Received Copyright Infringement Notice

I thought emule activity couldn't be tracked. I got a copyright infringement notice for downloading an episode of a TV show. It says in the notice that the protocol used to download the file was edonkey. How does one protect against being tracked? There has to be a way. The Internet is no longer safe for piraters.

The emule devs do not support piracy in any way. To be safe, stop downloading copyrighted material!
If you want to stay "anonymous", you may want to use a VPN service.

Well, it's not really "anonymous" but any traffic that's routed via VPN seems to originate from the VPN provider, i.e. they would receive the copyright infringement in your stead (and, depending on contract details and location may forward it to you/cancel your account or whatever).

thats because you for sure are using eMule without an IPfilter, next time you use any P2P software, make sure you always use an IPfilter, I recommend you to use PeerBlock: http://www.peerblock.com/

Indeed I recommend to never use IP filters.
with any P2P software you use, you should always use an IPfilter, otherwise you are exposed to be monitorized by: Anti-P2P organizations, and also you can be affected by: Bad Peers and Fake Servers.
of course an IPFilter is not a complete protection, but is better than be totally exposed.
