Hi,

I have a problem. If I am clicking ed2k links nothing happened. I have always to mark and copy the link. Then eMule will recognize the link.

Pc Configuration
- Operating System: Windows 8.1 Pro
- Firewalls: yes. The usually system firewall
- Antivirus: Yes. NOD32 Antivirus 8
- Spyware detector: No
- Emule Version: 50a

So you need some other information?

I am using chromium(Version 39.0.2164.0 (64-bit). This is my standard browser. I have a lot addons and so on, I did not wonder that something did not worked.

I tired Opera (Version 26.0.1656.60 ). Opera was fresh installed and I did not change anything. But the behavior from Opera is the same like chromium.

I tired IE (Version 11). Same here. I didn't change anything but ed2k links are not working.

Now I used google and get some help from other emule users but nothing worked. What did I?

1.)
Under eMule --> Option --> General --> "handle ed2k links" are grey.
I also tried "ed2k link killer", to make the button "clickable" and then "grey" again.

2.)
Both thinks are in my registry with the right path.

These registry entries are responsible for the web link format:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ed2k\shell\open\command
Name: (Standard)
Type: REG_SZ
Data: "Path to emule.exe(with quotes!)" %1

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\ed2k\shell\open\command
same as above

3.
Sorry here I have to speak German because I do not know the English word.
I changed the windows service "Anwendungsindentität" from manual to automatic.

4.
I temporally disabled my antivirus. But it did not helped.

5.
I activate and deactivate "autotake ed2k links only during runtime" (emule --> advanced option --> extended)

I don't get any error massage and the emule log shows nothing.

Hi, do you run eMule as administrator? You shouldn't.
If so remove the thick in eMule shortcut's preferences and do not use C:\Program Files(x86)\Temp and C:\Program Files(x86)\Incoming as folders in Options - Directories.

Do you mean Google Chorme? This can cause trouble.

This can cause trouble, too.

Again this can cause trouble. Same Google Chrome web browser engine.

Good, but sadly the web is a mess, too much disinformation.

Not related, leave Windows services alone.

Hardly ever related, at least nowadays.

Not related.

That's it! Unbelievable, anyhow for me. I never thought this could cause a harm. As you can see I did not mentioned it.

Thanks for your advice now I can send my ed2k link with one click to emule.

Anyway, it is strange that feature doesn't work if emule is running with elevated privileges...!

It would be a security related behavior, it makes sense to me.

Uhm... Sure?
A function should work when an admin tells it to work, and shouldn't work with a lower level.
It appears to be the contrary, in this case.
