You say that Emule is compatible with Windows 8
I use Emule for several years now on XP and win7, never had any problems what so ever.
Wednesday evening i upgraded my win7 system to win8.1 en from that moment on i can't connect to the internet anymore,
when connecting to a server i always get the message "" ......server (212.63.206.35:4242) appears to be dead.""
No matter what server i try to connect with, always the same message
All my settings on win 8.1 are identical on the ones on my win7
When i boot from win7, no problems
When i boot from win8.1, no connection
Is there someone who can help me with this issue?

Perhaps you should update server list.

There must be differences in configuration. Please see thistopic, then post all the requested data.
My eMule is running fine in 8.1 64-bit, therefore I am sure about compatibility.

I updated my servers via "http://www.emule.com/server.met" and now my Emule is running perfect on 8.1 64bit.
Thanks again

Do not ever get emule itself from emule.com.
Though this one time server.met was quite decent, I would recommend to use peerates.net or gruk.org in case you need servers list.
Also if you take a bit of reading around this forum, you might find a number of useful advices.
