Too Many Lowid's Why ?

music video's and old black and white TV from the 60's.
I have eD2k and Kad active, highID in both.
After it's been running for a few hours, I typically see 50 - 100 clients
in my queue. About 90% of them are lowid's. Why so many?
This high percentage of emule users don't know how to set up the client?

Not all users can get a HighID, but to me the percentage of LowID users that cannot gain HighID is small, I mean 10-15% of total LowID users cannot gain a HighID.
The worse of this is a lot of people don't know that here or in IRC they can get help.

if i'm not mistaken rule was that low id can only get files from low id's and high id's can get from both. Low id's should have less sources.
But, we upload to low id's so... what is true?
Sharing with ~155 clients I have arround 68 low id's. is this due to all this mod's?!?
BTW. To get a high id you must know how to open TCP/UDP ports on your router.
This is the most common problem why you get a low ID.
Otherwise it's due to your ISP or Firewall.
Thanks for sharing old stuff! It's always appreciated to search something "old" and to find sources!!!
That's why emule should stay alive and, maybe, soon reborn ;o)
Cheers
Mr. Z

I find, in my queue, users waiting to upload from me who have a HighID are somehow "preferred" when allocated
a slot. Often I see lowID clients at the top of my queue waiting and waiting, while HighID clients work there
way up and get a slot sooner.
Is it because the lowID connection is less reliable ?
PS I really enjoy emule myself, been using it for 10 years. Hope it keeps going.

High ID could be connected directly.
Low ID could be accessed only indirectly via ED2K server or KAD buddy.
Server and/or KAD buddy are informed that low ID peer should call back certain high ID peer.
Hence low ID to high ID connection takes more time and has more potential points of failure.

Thanks for the info, and it is certainly matches the symptoms I see.
I'm surprised so many tolerate having a LowID, with perhaps a little work,
many of them could be cleared up.

I couldn't agree with you more, unfortunately we are not all emule geniuses. I have low id and have been searching everywhere as to how I can rectify this but to no avail. I share 4500 files all good quality which is more than be said for many files I recieve. So if you want to cut low id out, help people out by pointing them in the right direction. yakusa

well, then : create a new topic, just for your LowID- (or other) problem.
That is the best way to helping you by forum means. (personally, I am not very good at LowID help)
In such topic / your post, please try to include some information, sth. like this for example : (bold = vital)
Quote
- Operating System
- Internet connection type (Bandwidth, Eg: 1024/320 DSL)
- Modem, Router, Proxy (manufacturer and model)
- Firewalls
- Antivirus
- Spyware detector
- Emule Version
Emule Settings (Options tab)
- Dl/Ul capacity
- Dl/Ul limits
- Hard limit
- Max Connection
- Activated networks (ED2k, Kad, Both)
- Max. new connection/5 secs (Options -> Extended)
- Max half open connection (Options -> Extended)
- Ports TCP/UDP
Emule General
- Numbers of servers in your server list
- High ID or LowID
- Number of downloading files and average number of sources
- Number of shared files
- Used server name and IP (eg: DonkeyServer NO1)
- Internet Service Provider (ISP)
- Is Protocol Obfuscation enabled?
- Found sources (Statistics -> Transfer -> Downloads -> Session -> Found sources)
so long

On the one side, a lot of lowIDs are almost good for Emule in some situations. A lowID sharing a file with one or two sources means a highID can usually quickly obtain it without much of a queue. LowIDs can help with file diversity.
A lot of lowIDs can also mean a lot of files are 'bottle-necked' onto highIDs due to lack of connection possibilities for lowIDs. So on the flip-side, highIDs don't spread files as fast in certain situations when a lot of lowIDs swarm onto a highID. Generally, highIDs don't help much with file diversity with too many lowIDs.
The questions is, does the spreading of parts/file diversity for both highID and lowID even itself out? I think if we solved everybody's lowID problem then we'd have less file diversity but the amount sources for all files would be more balanced.
Of course, lowIDs almost always finish last. My typical queue:

I don't believe so, to me updating the installer and removing all options from there should be enough.
