Good morning. :)

I've been wanting to write this post for quite a while.

So as most are aware, eMule development has stagnated a lot this few past years. Last official Build is from 2010, 0.50a.

Since 2010 it seems developer and man in charge "Some Support" is the only one still active on it's development.

My question and idea is, why not allow new people on it's official development?

Clearly there's people still active in this forum who would love to be part of the official development team and know the internals of eMule, not by just creating and maintaining mod's, but also by posting code fixes to the official source.

So my main question is directed to "Some Support", why not allow new blood in? Not saying "Some Support" should leave or abandon eMule. Assume the leadership, have the final word on what get's in or out and let's keep eMule alive for many years to come.

What do you say "Some Support"?

Have you identified new features which eMule is in need of?

It seems eMule is currently almost feature complete.

No replys?
It seems a good idea. A "not in developing" software is a dead software...I'm very glad we have a new beta but I think that a development team would speed up significantly the project.

Ps:The feature requests section is here, in this thread we are speaking about the development's organization.

No one ever made a list of who's an active developer and who's not.

Boolean searches:

pearl jam mp4 OR mp3

Adding new video and audio formats to the "video" searches, such as mkv, mpc, webm, flv, vob, m4p, m4a, 3gp, 7zip.

Random ports used on startup, but I'm guessing other active emule mods have this already.

Full socks5 support (for TOR; i2p is pointless: https://geti2p.net/en/faq#proxy_other)

Make the gui text resizable without having to change the default windows font. I value my eyesight!

In Windows 10 64-bit, minimize all (Windowskey + D) seems to be ignored by ed2k, while all other windows are minimized.

A persistent search filter (never want to see pthc etc...)

Persistent searches (like shareaza has, it seems to rerun a search every x hours and the new files are highlighted in red.) I have been waiting for this for a long time. Would it violate the ed2k or kad protocol?

The word unblowuppable is thrown around a lot these days, but I think I can say for certain that... (Boom)

btdigg.org is back online at btdig.com and btdigggink2pdqzqrik3blmqemsbntpzwxottujilcdjfz56jumzfsyd.onion
It is like btjunkie in that it only indexes metadata, and with a difference: it crawls dht torrents, not centralized trackers.

What's the pro?

INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

You're right, most isps are doing deep packet inspection nowadays, at least the one I work at does Posted Image. Port number filtering isn't really useful anymore. And thanks for the extension search, I didn't know about it.

I wish filedonkey was still around. I use btdigg to find rare files. Even though it's bittorrent, I usually have no trouble finding the files on ed2k.

I'd like that too. Anyway, I solved it with Set a custom scaling level (Control Panel\Appearance and Personalisation\Display), even if it's not recommended.

On my system (win10 standard x64), it works.
