Hi, I tried searching online and in the forum for the terms on how to upload files and get started but didn't find anything so I thought to open a thread.
I would like to upload/share our bands songs/album in order to get more audience to hear us and also be able to download our songs.

So my question is how do I get started? I have installed the eMule software I have placed the song in the shared documents folder, just like it was with (Kazza/limewire back in 2000something) do I need to do anything else in order for the files to get "indexed"?
So when someone searches for our song "Power of Mind - TheSerpent" to be able to find me having that song and him to download it from me?

How long would it take in order for the files to get indexed? One more question, will there be a problem if I cant leave my computer open 24/7 to seed and sometimes turn it off and turn on my laptop from uni would that time in between where the files wont be online make them not be shown in search again cause they would appear from different IP?

THanks for your help!
TheSerpent Band!

Hi theserpent! :)
I have installed the eMule software I have placed the song in the shared documents folder. Perfect
Do I need to do anything else in order for the files to get "indexed"? No, but you can release your file(s) using also emule contentDB. If possible, try to get a high ID (on your emule client).
How long would it take in order for the files to get indexed? I think few milliseconds (on ed2k network, not sure about kad).
One more question, will there be a problem if I cant leave my computer open 24/7 to seed and sometimes turn it off and turn on my laptop from uni would that time in between where the files wont be online make them not be shown in search again cause they would appear from different IP? No problems. If you share the file(s) as much as possible, on every connection, it will be shared.

Hope this helps, but wait for other useful answers ;)

It took me over 30mins to understand what you wrote. At first I read "Give me a link to your life and I thought you ment I was a rockstar or something cause I wrote I haev a small band xD lol Then I thought to what to write to explain my band is so new we dont even know it lol
At the end I read your post for the 5th time and saw "FILE" then I went into a bigger loop in my head how ot link it since I cant link the C\documents.. etc link so I stopped thinking for a while lol :( The stress is just overwhelming and too much sometimes..

What is the eD2K link and does it expire for when I change connections or is it some hash of the file which is stuck to it so from whatever connection I log on you can still get it. I dont want to give you a link that in 3hours will 404 and last how do I get this link

An eD2K link won't die easily ;)

Open eMule, Tools - 'Open Incoming Folder...' drag and drop a file there, eMule needs some time to create an hash (roughly ''unique code'') of this file.
Shared Files (click Reload if you don't find your file) right click on your file 'eD2K Links...' click Copy and paste here, you would use code button (<>) in this forum.

In example eMule 0.50a installer:

ed2k://|file|eMule%200.50a%20Installer.exe|3389035|3D366ED505B977FC61C9A6EE01E96329|h=EKE4PSKRQ65MWEPFTRDSAHW5VMDIMFAJ|/
