Hello,

I am a emule user for about 9 years, and like it still very much.
However I see a reduction in the number of users and files.

I have the following question:
Are there still limits on the number of Files that can be shared?

Previously there was a limit to about 1000 files.
Currently I share about 1100 files.
Mostly I start new files with sharing them on the highest priority level.
Depending on the number of full sources I detect, I reduce the priority level until I remove them to keep the number of shared files limited.
This way I try to add my share to keep the number of shared files in the emule community as large as possible.

However, I assume a lot of the older files that I do not share anymore are probably rare in the current emule community.
Therefor I like to increase the filelist.
So, is the limit still active?

Thanks for any answer.
Indi (not my emule name)

Server soft file limit average is around 7500 files, but kad will publish less than that number.

If you run eMule in short sessions, not all files would be seen in KAD, because it takes a while to publish your 1100 files.
Another important point is the balance between number/popularity of shared files and available upload bandwidth.
Downloaders should not get "Queue full" from you; and their waiting time should be reasonable. For that you can quite safely unshare very popular files until things get better.

Hello, Indi2p,

If there is a limit to the number of files eMule can share, I don't know what it is. I am currently sharing more than 1,500 files with no problem.

As fox88 mentioned, it takes a while for the Kademlia network to index all your files. It can take hours, I think, if you have more than a thousand, but it doesn't take nearly that long for the eDonkey network to pick them up.

The various eDonkey servers to which you can connect have different limits on how many of your files they will index. Some will index 10,000, while others will only index 1,000. While eMule is running, click on the Servers tab and look at which server you are connected to. Then look over to the right, and see what the server's "Soft File Limit" is. If the Soft File Limit is less than the number of files you are sharing, then some of your files will not be shared by that server.
