As far as I know eMule is Windows 8 ready.

Well it has no metro GUI of course. But other than this it should work fine.

I have not been able to get it to update the servers and sometimes it will not allow me to connect. Windows 8 has issues.

Without any detailed information the statement sounds more like you have issues with proper settings; and that should be discussed in Support.
