hi everyone :woot:

i want to share something via emule and i am a bit confused about how to name the file properly. and this is my view of "properly":

1. to make the file most available on the internet ( can be easily found in the "search" of emule via all methods )

2. compatible with windows, linux etc.

here is my question:

in these character -- space "," "[" "]" (" ")" "{" "}" "_", which one can i use as separator like "." and "-"

and here are some examples of separator:

1.xxx.yyyyy.2011.BD.MiniSD-TLF.mkv

2.xxx.yyyyy.2011.720p.BluRay.x264.DTS-WiKi.mkv

3.A.xxxxxxxxx.yyyy.2001.720p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-DON.mkv

4.xxxxxxx.yyyyyyyyy.of.the.zzzzzzzz.xxxx.2004.720p.BluRay.DTS.x264-CtrlHD.mkv

5.xxxx.of.yyyyyyy.2011.720p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-EbP.mkv

btw, if "." and "-" are not good separators, please let me know.

hope my description is clear enough. :P

update:

1. will "," in the filename be ignored by the method of "ed2k server" and "the KAD network" ?
2. will it cause error in linux that the filename contain "," ? (just consider the recent version)

what about ( ) { } [] and space ?

hum, since what i want to share are ebooks, i want to include more information in the filename, such as ISBN, author, edition, publisher, quality.
with only "-" and "-", these information can not be distinguished by a glance. :(

According to "International Ebook Rules 2012" (http://en.wikipedia....(warez)#E-books) , "dot notation" is recommended. Almost all information can be included in a NFO file.

So, e.g. you can type:
Author.NameBook.2012.NR02.SWEDiSH.SCAN.READNFO.eBOOK.-MYNAME.zip

;)

many thanks :flowers: i also read the rules before.
as the example you give, only "." and "-" is used, and as far as i know, 0day is based on the ftp servers and there is a saying that many 0dayers hate p2p very much. so i wonder whether the rule can be applied to the emule ? besides, there are nuke rules for 0day but in the ed2k or kad network, nuke mechanism does not exist. so i think the rule for 0day is not very good for emule. ;)

P.S. the question is updated to be more specific.
