Hey everyone,
I am a new user and am trying to get eMule set up properly. I managed to get the needed ports forwarded, but have run into an issue I can't seem to sort out. I am connected to ed2k and kad, but am uploading over twice as fast as I am downloading (600 kb/s upload 200-250 kb/s download). I have a 30 Mb/s download 5 Mb/s upload connection, so I should certainly be getting better download speeds. I'm sure its something very simple that I need to fix, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you all in advance!

Upload Is 2X As Fast As Download

If you have got a real 5 Mbit/s upstream, your max upload should be 640kByte/s and you should limit it under (or equal to) 80%, that it's 512kB/s.
You can verify your real upload capacity (i.e. if it is really 640) in two ways: 1) bandwith test on internet or 2) with emule.
For the first, you need to close all your applications (if you restart router and pc is better), go to the bandwith test and check the upstream/upload value... Then you can convert it:
example for megabit/s: 4.97 * 1024 / 8 = 636kB/s --- upload limit 636 * 0.8 =509
example for kilobit/s: 4996 / 8 = 625kB/s --- upload limit 625 * 0.8 = 500
You can do different tests, on different sites, at different hours, then you can make an average value.
For the second, you need to have already shared files, limit your download to 1 and "unlimit" your upload... Then you should see the upload at its max value after few seconds/minutes (usually 2 minutes are sufficient).
If you don't want to see it, you can look at emule statistics:
connection - session - upload - Max Upload Rate: 601.23 KB/s (for example).
In this case, your limit will be under (or equal to) 601 * 0.8 = 481
Then you can put your limit and verify if you can browse/navigate on internet smoothly... Otherwise you can put 0.75% or 0.7%
Another option is you can use USS (see docs - options extended).

INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

@ 5MBit/s max it can take a little while for enough remote clients to find you and fill that upload capacity.
But it is just normal to have more upload than download with a connection that fat.
If you really want to have more download, you can try to have more simultanous downloads, always watching out that you do not overload your router/ modem.
Individual downloads won't become faster, but overall d/l-speed raises.
happy Muling!

Testing upload speed with eMule is a good example of useless invention.
Nobody can predict how connection would behave when it's overloaded.
Test sites like speedtest.net is the way to go.

Anyway, it is already overloaded... He's probably using no upload limit. We'll see, if he will respond
