Also, if you change your dl folder will partial dl's keep going to the old one, and new dl's you add go to the new one?
Thanks for any info!

You can keep them for months/years, until you decide to delete them...

No, old partial files will go to the new folder. Perhaps you could make new categories (click)

And, can I create a second temp folder on another drive so that new new downloads start building there.

Allowing to discard what was downloaded and later start from scratch would be wasteful behaviour. You can do such things manually, but not automatically.
You can save .part and .part.met files and later import it.
But probably your best bet is to search for alternative file(s) where you could be reasonably sure to complete download.

It isn't possible.
(You can make a collection with the ed2k links of your partial files, then delete them and re-add them to your transfers list, but you will lose the progresses they made...)

Maybe you should choose wisely what and how much you want to download.
PS. Allocating full files helps to avoid drive fragmentation.

I sent you the link about file compression on windows xp (properties of the file, general, advanced). It should also work on windows vista and seven...
However if you didn't set previously the sparse option (or the full file size option), your files will be allocated in the standard way, i.e.:
Quote
You can nevertheless change the flag of your .part files from normal to sparse.
If you want to change the flags of your partial files that you wanted to delete, instead of delete them, I suggest you to put them in a folder (i.e. separate them from the other files!).
Then, with emule closed, go to command prompt (start, programs, accessories, command prompt), go to your new folder and write for each file:
fsutil sparse setflag "xxx.part" xxx = real name of your file example: fsutil sparse setflag "001.part"
I tried to set the flag for every file (using *) in the folder, but it seems it doesn't work.
Like you can see, file compression is simpler than rarefy/densify your files.
PS: this should work on any NT File System, but I'm using win xp and win vista should have a bug on sparse files
