today ten years ago, eMule came to be. A decade . What are ten years in the internet and tech sphere?
Let's see: 10 years and 20 months ago, eDonkey2000 was released. 7 months before eMule, the first iPod hit the stores. 2 years after eMule Facebook was founded and Youtube didn't exist for another year. A decade ago the most used home desktop OS was Windows 98, AOL was a common ISP and mobile phones were used to make calls instead of shooting birds around
So times sure change, but eMule trudges along like any good mule would do. And so we are happy to celebrate its 10th birthday today. It wouldn't have been possible without the support of countless people over the years, starting at you our users to the translators, debuggers, board moderators, modders, supporters, graphic artists and of course the developers who have joined and moved on over the years. Thank you.
How will eMule's journey continue? We hope to continue working on eMule to keep it running and up-to-date. This means for the most part we will fix existing bugs which pop up, make sure eMule works well on new released versions of Windows, implement detail improvements to its core mechanics and interface and react on upcoming events in the Kad network like fighting spam. We do not expect to make many major changes in eMule anymore, like we did when adding Kad because eMule has become a mature software and the development time available is not as plentiful as it was 5 years ago anymore. In this spirit we hope to release the next version in a few months.
So lets look ahead to the next 10 years - after all, mules can get well over 50 years old
Your eMule Team
I was here from da-I mean year 1. Glad to still see you here..

I don't think that eMule has an publicity problem,
it has architectural problems than cant be fixed by a face book page.
1. Its queue + credit system caused downloads to be notoriously slow for occasional users and new users.
Bittorent has here major advantages as it does not discriminates users.
2. eMule does not protects the legal security of its users downlaoding whatever they linke.
OneClick hoster downloads of pirated content are in the most EU countries Legal (like explicitly AT and CH), only the upload is a offense, which is not performed by the most OCH users.
Also there are anonymity P2P clients that guaranty censorship resistance.
eMule must solve at least this 2 major issues if it wants to remain popular.
No amount of advertisement can replace that.
David X.

NeoLoader is a new file sharing client, supporting ed2k/eMule, Bittorent and one click hosters,
it is the first client to be able to download form multiple networks the same file.
NL provides the first fully decentralized scalable torrent and DDL keyword search,
it implements an own novel anonymous file sharing network, providing anonymity and deniability to its users,
as well as many other new features.
It is written in C++ with Qt and is available for Windows, Linux and MacOS.

Congrat eMule for ten years aniversary.
I started sharing with Napster, after closure of Napster i went to KaZaA, then eDonkey2000, eMule till the year 2008, then after this year, sorry to say i left forever eMule for two reason.
1) not offer me what they offered many years ago, I see that there are no much users anymore like it was 5/7 years ago "search and finding files has decreased drastically", I was also a regular user of official IRC room with username Woozy, remember the room was full with 100 and more user, take a look now, only staff and few randomly enter.
Long ago we've sayd. Use eMule to fine rare things, well really eMule and KAD network had great potential for finding rare things, now difficult to find something, plus DL 9MB and wait 1hr for other 9MB is not trend nowdays.
2) i'm using linux, there doesnt exist eMule for linux/ubuntu, only aMule but I do not have to remember to install it even for curiosity.
Well it was fun some years ago, but not now, well not for me anymore. Sorry to say. But i will remember eMule as one of my first Sharing Program, will have to thanks the all involved people in this program.
In the future? well i don't know what to say time will tell , for now i'm using other alternative to share and you know what i mean, the opponent of emule has won more points and user, from 3 years i'm one of them.
I wish fruitful changes occur in the future for eMule
Happy Birthday.

You pretty much sums up everything..
One thing I think the eMule could get new people, if it was more built like DC++ or Soulseek, where you can browse and search for user files, but unlike this two, once start the download, the system would find and connect to everyone who have the same file. I know that something like that is already built in eMule, but only if the user actually share their files, which anyone wouldn't do. lol, their could be even Rooms, like 50GB+ only.., and administrattors who keep the order, much like its in original DC++..

I still don't know whats behind that eMule downloads are so slow. I get the UL:DL ratio at 1:69.39 .. Now, if anybody take this approach, the eMule speed would increase dramatically.

It's nice to see such a nice comment. I cannot agree more on this, especially this one I find true to also myself: Emule made me want to share my files, torrents do not.

Good night!
I have two HD's with it I emulate 5,0 installed, when I set in motion as that he has the same installation (identical) that 1º, he emulates it connects, but with the Kad server Net in under firewall. Exactly thus I obtain to find all the research that I make.
When I set in motion 1º HD, the Kad server Net is the time all in connecting, but never it connects. This HD was formatted and everything, installed again identical to 2º HD, and exactly thus the Kad server Net, never connects, always with the status of connecting.
What I make pair to correct this problem? Since already obliged.
