Should I open Protocol Obfuscation?

Is this option really effective? What is your Protocol Obfuscation setting? On or off?

Is this setting effect on DL or UL speed?

Thank you so much.

if your ISP doesn't throttle there probably is no point.

No, there will not be a new version of my mods. No, I do not want your PM. No, I am certain, use the board and quit sending PMs. No, I am not kidding, there will not be a new version of my mods just because of YOU asking for it!

Don't forget the peers you connect to. Even if your ISP don't throttle your connection, the other peers connections could be throttled and downloading/uploading from/to them without obfuscation (activated in both ends) would be problematic.

Ramyth: my ISP doesn't throttle.

Ki3r: if the remote clients are being throttled it's their job to enable obfuscation. unless we forbid obfuscation any remote client can request obfuscated protocol headers. also, (IIRC), KAD is always obfuscated since .49c or something.

I thought obfuscation had to be enabled in both ends. My bad...

Here where I live the ISPs don't disclose what policies they have in place to manage the network traffic and the bandwidth. So you don't know IF they throttle, HOW, WHEN and HOW MUCH. As result, given that the Protocol Obfuscation makes some difference (which is not sure), the only logical strategy it to allow only obfuscated connections.
