Hi, I am a noob.

I am using the most recent emule but when I test ports it fails the test even if I have my windows vista firewall off. I also don't have a router what should I do?

Thanks

Beginner's Guide

Ports

the ports test isn't reliable ! but more important if you have a high or low Id . > ID Explained

Thanks,

However, I disabled my firewall and I do not have a router and I still have low ID. Are there any other ways of solving this issue?

Do I have to open ports in my firewall even if the firewall is disabled? When I double click on the ID icon on the bottom right it tells me that my KAD ntework is firewalled even though the firewall is off. It also says that eD@K server and network is low ID. What to do?

Thanks for the help.

The problems your experiencing in my opinion is systamatic to sombody that has not forwarded ports on there router . Are you sure there isnt a hardware firewall effecting your connection ?

You could also goto http://portforward.com/ and install PFportchecker (its free) and a more reliable way of knowing if the required port if forwarded which may give you an indication of whether or not a hardware firewall is blocking the connection

If you have a DSL connection, it's possible that your DSL modem is also a router. If that's the case, then you would need to connect to your modem and configure port forwarding the same way you would with a router.

i am a vista user and am having port issues. i have gone into router and manually forwarded both TCP & UDP ports. i have successfully done this with BitTorrent BitCommet & Azeureus programs and no problems. in fact i have helped dozens of others forward their ports properly and got a great many thx. lately those same people have came back, saying they cannot manually (or use the Upnp)wizard to forward ports on emule. the web site comes up as not found. does this mean the port checker for this site is down or is this yet another gnutella client that i should no longer recommend?? it does show great potential.i work for D-Links so please no responses on how to forward ports.
