Sources Dropping Off?

I have been using eMule for some years now, on a dedicated win2k machine. I have kept up to date with eMule updates currently v0.49c.
Every now and then the sources for my active files disappear.
It seems at an unknown time my sources vanish, at the reask time they disappear. eg some files with 600+ sources will drop to 1-5 sources then approx 6 hrs later they seem to come back to normal. I have manually configured my setup over the last 4 years to my own liking as i have self taught (Router, Terminal, EMule, Network...).
I always have hi id's on both eD2k & Kad.
I have spent countless hours trying to find someone else with this problem...
Can Anybody help?

Most people don't like the old guessing game.
P2P is not piracy, it's marketing.
In fact, if your music or movie is NOT being downloaded, you should be WORRIED !
If you can't even give it away for free, how do you expect to sell it, stupid ?

- Operating System win 2k sp4 full updates
- Internet connection type (Bandwidth, Eg: 1024/320 DSL) 2meg dsl
- Modem, Router, Proxy (manufacturer and model) d-link dsl-520T
- Firewalls built in to router
- Antivirus nod32
- Spyware detector nod32
- Emule Version v0.49c
Emule Settings (Options tab)
- Dl/Ul capacity (Max/Max)
- Dl/Ul limits throttled to 6k down/ 2k up (keeps my usage under data cap which is tiny in New Zealand)
- Hard limit (Max/Max)
- Max Connection 5000
- Activated networks (ED2k, Kad, Both) Both hi ID
- Max. new connection/5 secs (Options -> Extended) 30
- Max half open connection (Options -> Extended) 50
- Ports TCP/UDP tcp 3621 / udp 3631 (properly forwarded)
Emule General
- Numbers of servers in your server list 17
- High ID or LowID Hi
- Number of downloading files and average number of sources 36 active 46 paused total 72
- Number of shared files approx 100 all 350MB+
- Used server name and IP (eg: DonkeyServer NO1) currently stormshare 4
- Internet Service Provider (ISP) Orcon (New Zealand)
- Is Protocol Obfuscation enabled? Yes (and it seems I can only connect through obfuscated allowed servers)
- Found sources (Statistics -> Transfer -> Downloads -> Session -> Found sources) 456
I am starting to wonder if Orcon (ISP) is disallowing emule through the busy period of 6pm to 12 midnight (NZT) The rest of the day it seems to be working fine.
Feel free to hassle or challenge my settings

Emule Settings (Options tab)
- Dl/Ul capacity (Max/Max) --- What exactly is that Max/Max?
- Hard limit (Max/Max) --- Again, what is that Max/Max? Try 500
- Max Connection 5000 --- Crazy value. 200 should be enough
- Max. new connection/5 secs (Options -> Extended) 30 --- You do not need that many; set it to 20
- Max half open connection (Options -> Extended) 50 --- Set it to 9
Better leave alone the values if you do not know what it would do.
Concerning Dl/Ul capacity: usually it should be what was measured for the bandwidth; but it's not that important right now with your limits, suitable for a dial-up line.

qm2003 can you elaborate on your statement... I pick up a huge number of sources through KAD
i'm still losing 99.5% of my sources between 18:00 and 00:00
Anybody heard of ISP's restricting traffic between "peak" hours?

D-Link router are know to dislike making many connections - that's what KAD needs.
You could try to disconnect KAD for a test. Or try to lower connections/5s even more - down to 10 or even less.
Do other eMule users have the same issues with that ISP?
It appears restricting traffic in peak hours is quite common practice, called "fair usage policy" or something like that. It even could be mentioned in your contract, but not necessarily - then it would be tough to prove. It could be also a case of overloading, when provider oversells it's true capabilities - unless you see sharp changes every day at the same time.

I personally don't know any other users on Orcon with emule.
It doesn't seem to be an overselling problem as I can still d/l directly off sites at incredible speed.
To my belief this is something they have implemented at the start of November. (I haven't read their contract for years). Nothing has been posted on their site recently in regards to this.

Then I would repeat the process with an empty server list and connect to Kad only to see what changes it makes. And during the test I'd keep an eye on the stats graphs and the verbose log.
