Well,i just changed my internet connection to a wireless one and there seems to be a problem with my emule connection. Previously, when connected, the mini emule icon shows a full brown donkey and my download speeds are considered to be high. But now, when connected, there is a black line on the icon and my download are literally not downloading at the speed at which it used to be. Can anyone help me with this?

Are you sure you don't have a router? Often router and modem is combined in one device, especially with WiFi.
You can try first if it helps when you activate UPnP (Options/Connection) which however needs to be supported & activated in your router/modem device.

If it doesn't help you need to provide the info from the links.

Is the wireless connection provided by your internet service provider? If that's the case you may have been assigned a private IP and not a public one.

Run ipconfig (Start/Run/cmd/ipconfig). If your ip starts by 220.255. and is equal to default gateway, then you have a public ip. If it stars by something like 192.168 or 10., and ip is different from default gateway you are behind a router or your ISP don't give you a public ip.

Cheers :D

Ya my default gateway starts with 192.xxx. Does that means my download speeds will always be very slow?

That means that you are behind a router. What model is your modem?(Most likely it is modem and router in same device)

What is a router by the way?

My Kad network is firewalled even though i have allowed emule on my firewall. Is that the cause of it?

"Solution for getting a High ID for the most common Low ID problems

There are different reasons for users getting Low ID's. Please look at all of them to dertermine what is causing your Low ID before creating new threads in either the support forum or the hardware forum! The most common ones are outlined below and there is also a description of how to fix them:
Misconfigured routers
Problem: If you are connected to the Internet through a router you have to do some port forwarding on your router in order to get a High ID.
Solution: There are many routers and it is different from router to router how you forward ports. Similar for all routers is that you have to forward you external IP to your internal IP for all eMule's ports. Your should also check the manual that came with your router for information regarding port forwarding. If you still have problems forwarding your ports after reading through all the information on these two pages and your manual then create a new thread in the Hardware forum to get support from users on this board. Remember to give all the nessacary information in your thread to make supporters able to help you"

No, that wont change the private IP-address assigned to your computer. ;)

As you have a private IP-address it means your behind a router and if you can't find it in your home then you are routed by ISP (or possibly by your neighbor :P ).
