Hello,

The problem is as written above, i get low ID in windows Vista, some config in win XP gave me High ID.
I've set my computer on the reserved IP list and made it DMZ.
Windows Firewall is turned off, no other firewall installed.
It's not the ISP (Besides the fact it works on XP it doesn't work for me in 2 different networks, on both of them i'm DMZ).
Things i've tried -

1) Disabling DMZ and enabling port forwarding.
2) Removing IE "Protected Mode", whatever that is... (at least i think i did, removing the V from the "use protected mode" under Internet under Security, thats all?).
3) Changing eMule ports.
4) Using a fresh eMule install.

Any ideas?
Not that i think it matters but i'm using Wireless connection from a Dell Studio XPS laptop.

Oh, Kad also connects in "Firewalled" mode 90% of the time, but sometimes it gets through...
If i try to run the port test then it says TCP was not reachable (disabling router/firewall).

You do not need DMZ for eMule; ID is not related to IE mode; and better use firewall.
Forward the ports you see in Connection page to the correct local IP address; get clean servers list.

i know i don't need DMZ, i enable DMZ for other reason and because i do i do not need to use port forwarding.
But as i wrote above, i tried disabling DMZ, changing emule ports and enabling port forwarding in my router - that didn't work!

about the Protected mode, while searching i came upon this old post:
http://forum.emule-p...howtopic=113770
several people claimed that canceling Protected Mode fixed the problem....

So, i tried forwarding the ports, i tried a clean server list (when i used a fresh install i got a new server list...) - didn't work...
Thanks anyway,

Any more ideas?

are you sure ? that list is a default list and not a current list ! take a look here Getting And Keeping Reliable Server List And Ipfilter

which router you uses ?

I doubted it would work, as i'm using a specific server list that proved to be very good...
Loaded the IPFilter (never used it before), deleted old servers, loaded new ones from the list.
Still LOW ID.
Like i said, the same thing happens on 2 different networks.
One of them has an Dynalink RTA1025W (Great Router by the way).
The other one is D-Link DIR-300 (this is the one i'm currently connected to).

Do you know of any other sites that check connectivity, it's a long shot but maybe it'll help me track this problem down... (as i don't think it's specific to eMule, like i said, the "Test Ports" page fails).

Again, doubt it'll work (as i did it before) but tried.
No luck.
BTW - for what it's worth i updated the router firmware.

I did make an interesting discovery though! it seems my UDP port is wide open (in fact, if i'm in DMZ mode, all of the ports on UDP are open on my computer) but the TCP is blocked!
Found that with the portchecker program of course.
The online check didn't discover it because when the TCP connection didn't get through it didn't try the UDP.

So, what could block TCP connections on my computer... any ideas?
I really don't think it's something specific to eMule, something is just blocking TCP connections!

And i forgot to mention, i also tried disabling my anti-virus with no luck.

EDIT - Tried another thing, enabled windows firewall and added an exception - as expected, it didn't work.

I think you missed sticky topic in the first place.
We need a more clear picture of your configuration.

I read the sticky...
Thats why i wrote (in my post thread) that it's not Port Forwarding issue, not an ISP issue... The sticky had no further information in it.

What more do you need to know? eMule config or windows?
I'll summarize a bit.
Running windows Vista on a Dell Laptop, connecting wireless (same result happens at different home networks).
I'm using eMule with the exact same config that worked for me on windows XP (Copied all the config files and everything) but i also tried a fresh install just in case.
On the networks i have a static (reserved IP) and i'm DMZ (meaning that the ports are forwarded).
The latest discovery is/was that something (most likely in windows vista) is blocking all TCP connections...

Later on today i'll try booting into safe mode to see if i still get blocked.

How many pcs are connected to your router?
How is your pc connected? (example: telephone jack - router - pc wireless)
Have you tried with upnp (click) ?

Hmm, well, most of the information is irreverent now that i know the problem is not specific to eMule and because i pretty much played around with all the settings (and the fact the same settings works for me on XP).
I use Avast anti-virus (tried disabling it).
for spyware i use Spybot (resident protection is off).

Well, at the first network (the RTA1025W router) there are 2 computers.
One is connected through an Ethernet connection and my laptop is via wireless.
One the 2nd network (the DIR-300 router) there are 3 computers, all via wirless.
I tried upnp.
It "works" on the first router - by works it means it says it managed to set the port forwarding, but i still get low ID.
It doesn't work on the 2nd router, fails to setup ports.

If you have a conflict of ips/connections, maybe you should try this option (preferences.ini - clickable link):

Quote

o BindAddr=<IP>
Binds eD2K/Kad+WebServer sockets to specified IP address which is usefull if you have multiple local IPs.

Well, i tried the upnp thingy even before i posted here... But thanks.

I didn't really understand what BindAddr does and i cannot find it in my preferences.ini file, should i try to add it?
I have a reserved local IP from the router at 192.168.0.99 (and portforwarding/dmz goes there) - is that what i should write in it?

I am not really sure, but i think you should use the wan ip (public ip).
The option is not present by default in the preferences.ini, you should add it.
I hope this could help

Hmm...
My public IP is not static, it's dynamic... adding it would be useless.
I'll try anyway with both public and private, just to see what happens
