Well, I've been having this problem with emule. When dsl modem restarts emule can't connect back with highID (everytime I get this lowID and the down and up speed decreases drastically). All other programs seem to work just fine except for emule. It's getting quite annoying having to close the program and then open it again. Any suggestions how to deal with it?

IMHO is a router trouble ! why it restart ? you have fix the static Ip in your pc ? you have switch off the DHCP in your router ?

"When using a router in a network the option DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol in the router should be turned off. Assign static IPs to each client in the network. This can be done in Window's Network Connections -> LAN Connection -> Properties -> TCP/IP . Deactivate the automatic IP assignment and enter an IP in the range of 192.168.xxx.xxx. Different types of router have different home IP ranges, this is noted in the routers manual.
After entering a valid IP the Subnet Mask field automatically changes to 255.255.255.0. Last step is to enter your router's IP as Standard Gateway."

How To setup a Static IP Address

A Guide to Understanding DHCP

at last is not a emule's bug....ever IMHO !

But why torrents don't have any problems with it. Reconnects easily.

I've never seen this problem before.
Have you checked what SS1900 suggested? Are your ports forwarded to a static (=manually set) local IP?
It's possible that you use UPnP in utorrent, have you tried this with eMule (in case you didn't set port forwarding)?
Along with the high/low id change, does your Kad status change from "open" to "firewalled" too, when this happens?
In options > server, make sure that the two options "smart low id check.." and "safe connect" are enabled.

I tried everything and now this occurs a little bit less often. It happens to kad as well...that's the main problem, because i could live without any servers. This way all downloads come to a snail speed if any speed at all. So the only way to repair it is to restart a program, not windows, just emule. I'm using azureus besides emule and everything works fine with azureus. BTW i already had this smart low id check enabled, now i enabled safe connect as well. Ports are forwarded, too. But i'm not sure about upnp in azureus. Any other suggestions?

i did not understand if you use upnp or port forwarding ... or both?
INCONCEIVABLE! - You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

With low id you have less sources, otherwise it should be working. Probably your configuration is not optimal.

Do you mean you restart modem while all the programs are running? That would be pretty harsh behaviour.

I do not restart modem. It restarts by itself (the line drop...the light on it dim, then they start blinking again properly). After this I get lowID in the emule. And this is when the problem begins. I tried forwarding ports and all other suggestions by you guys. Thank you all anyway. How can I show you my settings so that you can see what I'm doing wrong? Or is it simply the problem of using emule and torrents simultaneously?

As far as I understand from previous reports, UPnP would not open ports in this case.
Maybe it would be fixed in the future. Currently you can try to forward ports manually and do not use UPnP.

Indeed this is not really recommended. If you want to do this anyway you should at least set rather low connection limits for both applications.

I have the same problems, even with hardwired PAT translation in the router, if the router restarts (it's a bunch of crap, but I work for them :-( ) emule will always get a lowid until it is restarted. BTW, is the uPNP mapping done at every "connect" attempt or at eMule startup ?
