taz, just once again... this will *NOT* work correctly!

...

If hash[5] is 'M' then it'll NEVER be 14, thus, that code doesn't do ANYTHING at all and SO_MLDONKEY will prolly never be returned.

10'x - however this beta was released before Spike2 thread about ECR V2 : next beta (for final with CA I'm waiting that TS will be released) will include revised ECR (& Emulte Others - if needed) code.

Argh, thought you released a new version for testing - sorry about that :D
About TS... I'm still waiting for some feedback about the new functions... :)

New beta (5) :

zBOOM v0.1 beta 5 - 21/09/09

update : Embeded Emulate Others (taz)+ ECR (WiZaRd)
add : Extended clean-up (Maella/Xman)
add : minRQR (WiZaRd) - no column header and minRQR prefix (so that official lang DLLs can be used)
add : L2HAC (enkeyDEV/Spike2)
change : transparency for FakeAnalyzer (10'x Eulero)
fix : Don't Reset Connection Settings when using web server(Stulle)
fix : proper send of ICS tag (my mistake at previous beta)

There's a minor visual issue with FakeAnalyzer BG on search results - will be dealt with in next beta.

Now ICS really rocks !

Just a little note: IMHO this mod should be named "alpha" because usually "beta" software is feature complete and meant to bug fixing. When you are still adding features and making major changes the "beta" status (almost finished) is a little misleading.

For the best of my knowledge "alpha" implies possible instability, nothing regarding feature list (unless such changes causes stability compromises). I failed to receive a single note of zBOOM crashing / freezing (if migrating from another mod - clean install is needed).

What you refer to as beta, i.e. "almost finished" - is mostly known as RC (release candidate).

BTW: most mods feature lists are changing and very few were presented here as alpha stage (most of those were due to being just after delayed, in terms of several official versions, merges). However I really like to keep this thread clean of semantics - so if you wish to continue on this subject - please start a new thread (named proper naming / title / whatever) :respect:

You are right, in this forum it makes no difference calling the mod "alpha", "beta" or "mario".
The problems come when the mod is distributed elsewhere where you don't find power users. IMHO the first betas did not make much sense when distributed everywhere. Not your fault of course.

@OT (and in short words, promised ;)):

I know it this way:

pre-Alpha: dev, not released, not feature-complete, most likely instable
Alpha: dev & early testers, seldom released in public, not feature-complete (but almost), most likely unstable
Beta: testers, sometimes released to public, feature-complete in most cases, could be unstable in some situations
RC: feature-complete and ready to be released - last chance to find some bugs before releasing the final

You want a light mod with source-dropping, Powershare and WiZaRd's ClientAnalyzer ?
Try Spike2-Mod !

You rather want to stick to official eMule but don't want to miss all the new fixes and optimizations from the mods ?
Try OfFixed-Mod !

If it is of any interest, I have a confirmation that the updated Emulate others code (only MLDonkey related) works - a private beta testers downloaded quite a bit from MLDonkey client ...

and what tells you it is just due to the emulation and not just some other lucky circumstances?

- than I guess you're not interested ( :P ),

MLDonkey v2.9.4 - 2 full (+ few cuts due to better client on queue) upload sessions (> 18MB), over 4 download sessions (> 40MB).

taz, you can download from MLDonkeys even without eMulation options... though a lot of 'bad' clients also use MLDonkey based clients, so I wouldn't be too euphoric, yet.

and i guess you should probably make a test in a real invironment that is worthy being called "test environment"... like wiz said, there might be no gain in emulating the other clients identification pattern.

Hey taz-me,

I've been using this mod for a couple of days and it's working well so far. USS responds well and upload rate is very steady.
One thing I found a bit confusing is the MinQR in the Speed column, maybe if you grayed out the inactive transfers it would be instantly clear to the user that since the transfer is a bit grayed it's probably not transferring at the moment and therefor the number in the speed column can't be transfer speed.

BTW what does the highlights in the search results mean?

This is why ZZUL and ZZUL based are used by releasers - I'm glad nothing is broken (... yet ;) ).

When downloading there's always (since it shows speed) the [k/m]b/s - however due to column width it might be missed. For now you can stop the mod, manually add "ShowActiveDownloadsBold=1" (hidden option of official) to Prefernces.ini and start mod again - then when downloading line will be in bold, otherwise not. From next beta it will be the default (and also current value stored in Prefernces.ini - so only changing it not adding it anymore).

Basically zBOOM is for releasers - it offers ZZUL with some optimizations and "fixes", so it will use reduced resources and be more resilient + very few embedded features (mainly Client Analyzer, few download "enhancements" - since this mod users are supposed to be releasers and it's best that they will share rarest stuff from reliable sources, and very few light "side effects" - such as minRQR). Other hidden possibility is that it's SRC code can be very easily used as a base for other mods (single line - new mod name, single name - other modder, single line - new major release number, ...).

The altered background color of search results is due to FakeAnalyzer (by infinity) which is aimed to try and point accuracy of search results :

GOOD - green
OK - blue
SUSPECT - yellow (since it's not very readable SUSPECT=yellow, aka red+green)
FAKE - red

Thanks for the info.

A few more questions if you don't mind.
Why does the servers appear as red at the beginning?
Is there a way to disable ip filtering in this mod?

Suspicious servers (unreliable number of indexed files, if number of users is looked at, etc.) are colored in red.

As in official - Tools->IP filter->right click then select all and remove ...

another option is to delete ipfilter.dat/ipfilter.p2p from Config dir before mod/official starts.

Last beta before CA :

zBOOM v0.1 beta 6 - 30/09/09

add : Clip stats (WiZaRd/Spike2/taz)
add : auto full chunk (taz)
add : Don't allow file hot swapping (Xman)
fix : trim results of searches for proper BG (netfinity)
change : ShowActiveDownloadsBold is true (by default) and stored for minRQR - 10'x niRRity

Download links :

eMule0.49c-zBOOM_v0.1B6-BIN.rar
eMule0.49c-zBOOM_v0.1B6-SRC.rar

Although not properly set as test environment, another 2 beta testers reported successful UL/DL with 2 different MLdonkey clients v3.0 ...

If anyone find SRCs useful for whatever purpose, they can be used even before mod release (beta is very stable and besides it is not evident that the user wants to use / or wait for CA integration).

what would "auto full chunk" be?

and what about the changes you made for emulating MLDonkey?
