I`ve read everything i can find here and on the official emule site about opening ports and tried and tried but the port test fails every time . Can someone please explain to me in simple terms how to do it with this set up :- .

Windows XPP SP3

ADSL 6000 - 6000 kbs up and 780 kbs down

The modem is :- ARV3527P-B-LF-IR

The router is :- Longshine LCS-IR-2114-A

I use Kaspersky 8.0.0.506

Same old problem same old answer :
Have you forwarded in your router the ports you set in eMule to the ip of your computer?. You can look for a tutorial for your router at Portforward.com

Cheers :D

OK , thanks . I`ve got a static IP adress for my XP and got as far as getting into the router but the instructions from www.portforward.com say go to "Advanced" and find "Local server" . In my router that isnt there . I looked through all the possible settings and have found "DHCP Server" and "Virtual Server" . In the "Virtual Server " part there i can enter "Service Ports" and "Server IP" plus "Enable" and "Use Rule" . From the "ipconfig /all" i have two "DNS Server" IP adresses . In the router "Virtual Server" i can only change the last number of the 4 numbers . The third number in the "Server IP" one matches the second one from the two "DNS Server" IP adresses from "ipconfig" so i have put the ports in and that . The port test still fails .

The thing i might have mistakenly called a modem is the box between the router and the internet conection wich my telephone is also pluged into . The number is right . I did look at the page where you gave instructions but at the moment my brain hurts to much to take it all in .

In server ip you have to set the ip of your computer, the first one you see in Ipconfig.

I had got this far a few days ago and had entered my XP IP adress there and it didnt work . I`ve now changed it back again and the port test still doesnt work .

I`m not prepared to turn my firewall off as in the modem log it say i have had 2 fragmentation flood , 1 ping of death/teardrop and 5 bonk attempts that have been made to gain access . I dont understand what that means but i dont like the look of it .
