as said by Stulle's PM, in this DLP we have focused on new methods of identifying bad mod community and client (we have occupied much Time and we had to refine the method of identification).

Well, following that logic you should consider banning all Xtreme mods as well as AJ community is using its modstring...

But oh heck... shit happens and you try your best fighting those windmills... though I hope you won't end up like Don Quichote.

@ Narayan1050 & ketamineblue:
R-Mod & Alias ARE GOOD MOD but a lot of leechermod are based on them, (for example exist "R-Mod LEECHER EDITION" send the same modstring of the good mod )

"R-Mod & Alias ARE GOOD MOD" "but a lot of leechermod are based on them" , well many leecher mods are based on xtreme, morphxt and magic angel , then included xtreme, morphxt and magic angel in dlp as R-Mod and Alias .... hey crazy man, i say "witch hunt"

well guys, please keep it calm. we don't want to heat no old discussions of past. i'm really sorry for what happend and i have spoken to Riso64Bit about this issue and am positive and hopeful that something like this is not going to happen again.

i don't agree with how the work on this version has been done but i have already addressed this issue. in fact, i am taking part responsibility for this for having trusted a bit blindly but now it's too late. just don't get it all too heated. if there is still anymod unmentioned thisfar name otherwise keep it at that.

jerry: i don't exactly like custom modstrings. there is of course no valid reason to forbid it at this time but imo it is not good because it takes away the possibility to make some stats on mod usage and stuff. and on a more personal note, i don't like it at all if my work is taken gets a trivial - if at all mentionable - change and is for some odd reason called entirely differently. somebody told me at some point that he bans any user who belongs to a known release group - who generally all use mods - and does not use a well known mod... make of that whatever you want.

No, there will not be a new version of my mods. No, I do not want your PM. No, I am certain, use the board and quit sending PMs. No, I am not kidding, there will not be a new version of my mods just because of YOU asking for it!

will do my best to respect that :flowers:

::just keep on mind that most reasons for MorphXT/StulleMule based mods is the morph's hybrid ZZUL upload splitting class which is hard to merge as standalone feature to new mod, so is easier to remove from working base what one does not sees fit ;) and also is hard not to stumble upon YOU (and StulleMule is already enough long modstring)

Stulle i respect you ..... The problem is that things are done lightly, without thinking of the consequences would have been better to publish a beta version V38 and then publish the final version with any revisions, that's all

ketamineblue: i fear you have no or just little knowledge of how the DLP works and how the usual work process was. introducing beta versions and thus two different versions sharing the same version number brings certain problems for the code which cannot be fixed without a new version of any mod using the .dll and even if it could be changed it would be an ugly hell! things are not done lightly at all but it seems the workprocess Riso64Bit chose so far was inappropriate for this project. i talked to zz_fly about this the last time a DLP version was released (v37) but it would appear Riso64Bit did not understand or whatever. anyhow, i talked to him about this and he said he'd take all the blame.

this is all really regrettable but nonetheless it has happend and there is nothing to undo the done aside of fixing it in the next version.

now, i think enough has been said about this so i'll declare this the final comment on this unless somebody wants to point out another falsely accused mod. if somebody, however, feels the burning desire to reply despite having read and understood what i just wrote i will not hesitate to delete that post asap.

ketamineblue: don't underestimate the work it takes to maintain something like the DLP if you want to do it properly. many people are happy that some progress is still being made. i could of course revise any new version or do it on my own all along but i consider my time better spent on other projects so unless you contribute constructively consider to refrain from criticizing and announcing witch hunts that do not exist. everybody is doing his or her best and most importantly, they do it for free. keep this in mind!

@ ketamineblue & tHeWiZaRdOfDoS: You're right, with the passage of time the DLP is losing effectiveness because many mod take masking systems that can not be blocked by the DLP. Then we should find or introduce a new system of recognition of the client for example:
I happened to find a new system of nick thief, it copy ONLY the username skipping the random paddings & the Modstring (current methods of recognition are in vain). You begin to think & help us.

@ ketamineblue: in fact, the DLP 38 was in Beta,in developing (that is still working with the DLP 37 adds strings), and zz_fly decided to include in the new Xtreme 7.3, but I do not know why that has been published prematurely started this uproar.I do not know. I'm not giving any blame zz_fly but I was not aware of an imminent release

@ Stulle: I just wanted to clarify that they are unable to handle a mod, how do you experts. For this reason I decided to help zz_fly to "refine" the Xtreme mod whit Bug reporting & Leechermod reporting. not so much that I work with C++, all wrong and all will be better.
Next time I will focus more.

If you want some other explanation, contact me for PM.

Said this. close discourse and take part in the development of the DLP helping each other possibly.

@ SharingFiles: this mod is ALREADY banned
(because:
no SRC (gpl- braker), Kick all upload slots & ...)

Maybe it's time to move on... remove all those old string bans (some - current ones - should be kept of course) and replace them by heuristics (like the modstring thief thingy you added).

well wiz, if this was sufficient it would have been done. but it ain't and i think we do not have to have this argument.

I didn't intend to start another CA vs. DLP thread but wanted to encourage the development of the mentioned detection schemes. Sure there aren't so many possibilities to detect some clients but that's part of the challenge :)
The advantage: if the detection scheme is done correctly it won't need updates (though additional schemes may be added at any time) and won't punish "legal" clients.

wiz, if there was a valid detection not based on whitelist i expect you would have made use of it in the CA which you don't to the date. the reason - imo - is that there is no valid way to identify random bad mod strings without using a whitelist. you may be able to detect some randomness but even the code that detected some old random mod version needed a whitelist to prevent not so random mods from being banned. while it is of course a whole different case than using a "if-you're-not-on-my-whitelist-i-ban-you" sort of code i doubt it will be possible to create an algorithm that will basically emulate human intelligence to differentiate between random and not-so-random modstrings. and even if we wrote that algorithm - which would probably use a shitload more CPU time than a hundred list entries - we might get those randoms but how would the algorithm know a not-so-random-mod is good or bad when just this version made apparent that it takes some more work to figure that out.

all this is getting toward CA, i know that much and this is exactly why i did not want any further discussion because while i am in charge in this particular subforum i do not want to be responsible moderating yet another pointless and endless discussion which will eventually turn into personal insults of various kinds. we had that much in the past and there is really no good reason to revive that. i think either party knows of the pros and cons of both systems.

PS: Hanzel und Gretyl's last concert in Germany was FUKKEN UBER! :-D

i hope that new method to identify bad/comm mods is not the same like here presented downloading of the last releases of border/bad/leecher mods and counting the modnames never seen :P

:flowers: :flowers:

the new method ?
it's so easy....... Riso64Bit probably(as he did with me) contacted many emule clients with strange modstring by messages and ask them "which mod is" !!!
this is the great DLP contributor <_<

... while you were starting to drop those "bad" releaser clients from your ban list, I wonder why you didn't remove my FlowerPower mod, too?

wiz, you got that wrong. mods having been removed are legit mods. other than that only strings of releaser communities have been removed because - as myth rightfully noticed - not all members of those crews use leecher mods.

one may consider FlowerPower not all that bad but i personally think there is no need for *any* bad function and i am perfectly fine to not grant them a dime nor get anything from them. in fact, one releaser once asked me how to ban members of certain crews using bad mods but customizing their mod string...
