Earlier this week, when I started Emule, I got a message saying that a newer version was available. So I updated to 0.49a After closing then reopening Emule, i tried a search to make sure it was OK and the search worked fine. But now, even with both eD2k and Kad connected, even generic keywords that should get dozens if not hundreds of results like "cat" and "test" get nothing at all. What can I do to fix this?

Make sure you have a reliable server list:
http://forum.emule-p...howtopic=125858
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

I just tried that and like before, when starting Emule, I see this

http://i273.photobuc...rker/severs.jpg

But unfortunately, going through that did not work this time. Even after restarting my whole system, Emule's search will not work at all :-(

EDIT:
5 minuites later. I just found that in the search window, if I switch the "method" dropdown from "servers" to "kad network" the search does work, but I'm thinking I'd still better geti it to work of the default setting of "servers" just to be on the safe side

How many server are now in your server list?
Which server (name and IP address) are you connected to?

Cloudchaser, don't cross-post. You alreasdy have a topic going with the exact same question here:

OK, I won't from now on, I did it because I was hoping that someone watching that thread, perhaps even the author, who hasn't seen this thread might know something

@ stoepsel - this might be an ongoing problem, rather than due to version update and/or serverlist, or another one of those frustrating "serverlist is good, connected to genuine server, but search isn't working" issues. and cloudchaser has already been advised on servers.
http://forum.emule-p...howtopic=135973

would be nice tho, to find out if these search probs (and they're not uncommon lately) are related to a server problem, user behaviour, hardware/software glitches, ISP interference etc.
Are we nearly there yet?

Yep, I was advised on servers, I started this thread after what I was told in that thread appeared to not be working this time.

You might find this post of interest - actually, that whole topic maybe...
http://forum.emule-p...s...st&p=965118

Ensure you've allowed access for your new emule via your firewall - each version is treated as different programs (by my firewall, at least) and must each be permitted. (but while you might get limited results if you have lowID, you shoudn't get 0 results)

You might like too, to give the info requested at #5 of the first post here
and any other info that you think might be useful (such as if you tried different ports, different server, server vs global search results, if you made a lot of searches before getting poor results, PC and/or router reboot etc) When you do a search, do you get the ! sign show on the tab for ages, then disappear with no results, or does the ! not appear? any other progs using the internet?

OK, thanx!

If I still can't get it to work when Method is set to Server, oh well, at least it still searches when Method is set to Kad Network.

When searching with Method set to Kad Network as opposed to when it was working when set to Server, the ! does apppear and the search takes about twice as long, 5-10 seconds, but it does work.

Practically you should not need Server method. Use Global.
Yes, sometimes valid servers do not respond to search requests.
I assume it's a matter of overloading, when servers can simply drop requests, but it is only my guess.

I've tried Global, but I don't get any results with it either. Kad Network seems to be working OK, so I'm gonna stick with that.

I'm having the same problem, when I search there are no results in common search, or when it comes, it comes with 30 results only, when I maxed that to 400 results.

It is not a server problem, I already tried other server, but I have the same problem,

The search bar doesn't move, like "wait, I'm searching"

it remains static

and always returns only 30 results, after 30 secs

/btw, this doesn't happen on Kamdelia, but since my router isn't able to fully forward UDP ports, it is not useful as a TCP connection

You've tried rebooting (pc and router), refreshing your serverlist, switching between global to server to Kad and back to global for search methods, Changing ports, enabling obfuscation, restarting emule, ? (as mentioned in the topics linked to in this topic)

edit: also see if the advice at the bottom of this page applies to you. http://www.emule-pro...mp;topic_id=122

I have been having the same problem lately. I have also cleaned up my servers list and updated with a safe list but it doesn't work. I search for "getright", "coldplay" or "exe" and I simply get no results both on Server and Global modes. I do get a couple of results on Kad mode, but downloads takes the whole eternity to begin.

PLEASE can someone give a tip that ACTUALLY helps solving this???

If it's out of any interest, I NEVER had this kind of problem before, obviously my port test is ok and I use Vista Ultimate 64.

If you are using valid servers and have tried all the suggestions (ie. ports, obfuscation, global, no filters etc.) and it still doesn't work on any of them then I guess you should ask your ISP.
