I have had strange problems in that in the afternoon emule would lose connection to the current server and then would be unable to reconnect. It would loop endlessly, but no server could make a connection. The next morning all would be well and I would get my usual high ID.

I am using the Israeli ISP 012/smile and while emule is having problems, all other Internet programs (email etc) work fine. I called technical support and was told that there is no blocking of any kind going on in the afternoon or any other time.

Having no other choice, I tried a different ISP, Netvision at the particular time when 012 wasn't working. Netvision worked just fine and I got my usual high ID (like 012 in the morning). Then I switched back to 012 and verified that the problem still existed and I would have to wait until the morning to continue with emule.

I called back 012 technical support with the new information that Netvision works at the same hour when 012 fails. They said that they don't support emule connections so they couldn't verify the problem but there was no blocking of any kind. They did check my connection and verified that it was perfectly OK. No one has a decent explanation of what is going on.

The bottom line is: if emule is sufficiently important to me, then I will need to change my ISP.
