In my Emule "SERVERS" I had two servers with the same name:

eDonkeyServer No1

but with the other things (ID,ping, etc) different.
They are not the same because I access to different files. But the second one disappeared from the list (!!!) and it was the best. I downloaded from the respective site but it didn't appear. How can I insert the missing server and what are the characteristics if necessary?

Thank you for your aid.

Follow these steps
  • Go to Options/Security
  • In Update from URL, type:
    http://emulepawcio.s...et/ipfilter.zip
  • Click on Load.
  • Go to Options/Server
  • Set number of errors allowed before removing the server to 9
  • Click List button that appears next to the option Auto update
  • In Notepad, that is opened, add the following lines in the beginning:
    http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz
    http://www.peerates.net/servers.php
  • Save changes in notepad
  • Untick the two following options Update list of servers
  • Click on Accept
  • Go to servers window
  • Remove all servers from static list
  • Remove all servers from list
  • In Update Server.met from URL, write any of the URL in point 7
  • Click on Update button
  • If you have selected Autoconnect only to servers on static list add the servers you want to static list
  • Double click on any server

Cheers :D

Thank you very much, TORPON. I did as you told me. But only appeared 28 servers and only 1 eDonkey Server No 1.
Little time later server Saugstube (17 failed) and eDonkey Server No 1 (20 failed) are with their letters almost extinguished.

Excuse me but I am an initiate and I wrote a new topic because I don't know how reply at your message.

You misunderstand how the networks function.

It is only important to use good servers. It is not important which one of these good servers you connect to. You do not get files from servers and there is no 'best'.

The instructions Torpon gave will ensure you have these good servers. If a server fails then it either no longer exists or is temporarily offline. If a server fails 10 times (this is maximum - 17 and 20 should not be possible) then you should assume it no longer exists. Although those lists might give you 28 servers initially, I find there are actually only approximately 17 currently working, so don't be worried if this is how many you get after some fail. You will still have access to all files on the network and everything will work correctly.

Tank you my friend NICLIGHTS for your valuable explanation. I am a little more enlightened. But I am still confused. If there are not servers better then others can you explain this : I searched Razorback for certain files and they didn't appear and the same with other servers; at last only with the search of eDonkeyServer No 1 ( and the second because there were two ) I found a lot of files I didn't find in the other servers.

Will you be so kind to explain me these doubts? Thank you very much.

Every server index the files the clients connected to it are sharing. So when yo make a Server search, results can differ form one server to other. But when you put a file to download eMule look for sources in all servers in your list, and also get sources from other clients via source exchange or passive.

Thank you very much, TORPON. Now I think I am completely enlightened.

Until the next question.

Additionally, when you perform a global search (all servers in your list) there are conditions and in some circumstances the results may still be dependent on the connected server. For these reasons it can be important to refine your search to get the results you want.

I need your help once more, please.
I reinstalled my Windows and consequently, Emule.
I used "Update List of Servers" in 17 points you sent me (it is in this topic) But when I executed point 3 ( several times)appeared the message

IP filter download failed
An error ocurred connecting to the server
(and in Portuguese Language) The time of the operation was exceeded

Other times other message

IP filter download failed
Failed to receive a valid HTTP reponse from the server

I continued with the other points without any errors more. Is it important that point? If yes how can I solve the problem?

Thank you very much again.

Cheers

As an alternative you can download it by using eMule. Just copy the ed2k link from here and paste in the transfer window.
Current ed2k-link, version v0128:
ed2k://|file|ipfilter.v0128.zip|3544041|1909220890B2473490D80DEBDF861D01|/
When it's finished downloading you need to unzip it and copy 'ipfilter.dat' to your config folder and replace the old one, if any.

Edit: Finally you need to hit the 'Reload'-button in Options/Security to load it to your running mule.

I did what you teach me. After unzip, I copy the directory ipfilter.v0128 to the directory of Emule.
Is only this? Isn't necessary restart Emule or Windows?
Thank you very much.
Cheers.

 Oh, I forgot to tell you about the necessity to click the Reload-button in Options/Security... Sorry!

Alternatively, you can copy the downloaded 'ipfilter.dat' to config-folder when your mule is not running. It will be loaded next time eMule is started.

No need to restart windows though.

No need to stop eMule for that. Copy unpacked & renamed (to ipfilter.dat) file to the config folder, press Reload.
