Is it normal to have over 200 MB in a config directory and over 14000 files in temp?

It can be normal to have a large config directory size. Mostly this will be due to Known2(64).met This file contains the filehashes and related info for all your shared files. The more files you share the larger this might be. 200MB might suggest around 1500-2000 shared files (too many).

14000 files in temp would be normal if you were downloading over 4500 files. Also far too many.

Now Vista freezes every time I try to start emule. It loads fine until the servers kick in...then nothing. Mouse can be moved, but nothing's clickable. And there's only few files in download queue and almost none in upload.

Do you still have over 14000 files in EMule/temp?

I have another thought. I just realized that the difference between my desktop comp and this laptop is that the laptop has this ahci disk and the desktop doesn't. Could it be the cause?

It's certainly possible but I can't say any more than that.
