Well, you 2 might have a clue what he's on about - but burnt toast with a pic of Achilles? on it, toaster with penguin wielding a hockey stick. Ottawa senators is an anagram of o, wants a toaster. The word BOING, but no sign of zebedee. Not enough clues for me.

Some enlightenment please?

I have to think more outside the box when I come here, cuz I keep forgetting how few of you actually get to see hockey, or anything else that happens on this side of the Atlantic that doesn't splash across the international press.

Ottawa has a short history of either complete mediocrity, and in recent years, great teams which perform well during regular season games. Outside of last year when they went to the final series of games for Lord Stanley's cup, they have a pitiful record in the championship playoffs by getting bounced out in the early rounds by teams whose regular season record is poorer than theirs.

After the boring and completely mis-timed national cup final we had this weekend (It used to be in May, when Bundesliga was finished or just one day left) today I hope for some better football.

I don't know how is the situation with the payTV in the UK or in spain, just to tell you with satellite dishes that the german 'free TV' channel Sat1 is showing it - in German, but so what? hear the stadium and watch the game is good enough.

I found this on their page
Howto get Sat1 via satellite :

Analoger Empfang:
ASTRA (1 F)
19,2 Grad Ost
Transponder 06
11.288 MHz
Polarisation vertikal
Tonunterträger: 7,02 / 7,20

Satellit: ASTRA (1L)
Orbitalposition: 19,2° Ost
Frequenz: 12.544 MHz
Polarisation: horizontal
Transponder: 107
Symbolrate: 22.000 Ms/S
Fehlerkorrektur (FEC): 5/6

Nevermind - what a bore <_< The we-don't-want-to against the we-can't. any long pass from manu, you started thinking there was an injured player somewhere on the field and that's why they kicked the ball somewhere over in the Barça half where no manu player was even near to where the ball would land. And ferdinand, to pass the ball to van der Saar , about ~12 -15 m distance without it becoming a corner kick for Barça, that's already too much asked from him. Even van der Saar, none of his long balls ever reached a team member. And for both teams, I can see better free kicks and corner kicks over here with the local teams, they play 4th division. Phew.
And the referee was none the better. Not only did he not have any control of the game, he denied a clear penalty to M. C.Ronaldo - well, maybe if he would not fall down every other moment referees would actually start to consider giving penalty when he gets knocked down like that.
The only good thing about it was that C.Ronaldo really sucked big time. Uncomprehensible why Ferguson left him in the game - once he starts whining and complaining, he never gets anything straight anymore and if I ever must see him again in his pathetic pose, adressing god : WHY ME, WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG TO DESERVE THIS, ME, THE CENTER OF THE WORLD - you know what posing I am talking about, right ? I shall get him fixed, or shot.
Damn I really have a deep deep dislike for that guy. Ever since his first appearance in the national team. Bah.

And Giggs only for the last five minutes, oh great! What do you think I want to watch ManU for ?

The game would become far more interesting if the footy leagues and FIFA would adopt a single, key rule from rugby. Namely, the rule which permits the referee to march off additional yardage against a team whose team member(s) don't shut their mouths and/or fail to heed his instructions quickly.

Couple that with an immediate red card for diving in the penalty area, and a yellow anywhere else, and the game would become ten times more enjoyable to play and watch.

:D UTD had a crap start - looked totally off form (still), til the goal. But I was happy with the result. Enjoyed the match but the last few minutes were agonising to watch. Roll-on the next match....

Finally. I love that Giggs scored the second goal. He totally deserves the recognition for everything he did for ManU :)

He grew on me over the years. I think he was overrated when he was younger but has slowly grown into the player he was said to be. Most definitely a world class player and leader nowadays. Even if he only gets to play a little.

You're not old enough to actually remember him when he was the "next bright young thing to be" are you"? Surely you were just a "babe-in-arms" then?

Well, he isn't getting any younger is he? The name Giggsy was put forward for my mum's last dog (when he was a new puppy), and he was 13 when he died. So Giggs must have been playing for a bloody long time. His poor legs must be right fed up with it

and yes, the merchandise is already on the manu site. The black tees look ok, but not sure we need scarves with the current weather.

Ya, they farked that up royally, Smoke, and it was nice that the Russians pulled it off on our soil. It's a kindly reminder to us that it isn't always "our game". Full marks to them too. They deserved it for their tenacity in that third period, and unlike the Canadians, keeping themselves penalty free when it mattered most.

How come there has been no mention of that iconic footy event the FA Cup? Just coz SOME peeps teams didn't make it?
Anyhow did anyone else notice the brief appearance of a blue police box... unfortunately for Cardiff not a big enough distraction to spoil the winning goal!!
