Hi im new here and not very puter savy. my eMule use to work fine, then all of a sudden it doesnt. when i open eMule, i get an error message saying: "no server address entry in 'addresses.dat' found. please paste a valid server list address into this file in order to auto-update your server list." there is a box that says "OK", i click it and the error window closes. but i still cant use eMmule, as i hav no servers listed. i tried re-downloading eMule but that did not do n e thing. i have no idea what a "valid server list address" is. AND, i am running version 47.c and have tried to download the 48.a version. HOWEVER, when it gets to the "installing" portion, i get an error window that says, "eMule v0.48a Setup Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\eMule.exe Click Abort to stop the installation, Retry to try again, or Ignore to skip this file." Retry doesnt work, so i click Ignore. it finishes downloading and i request the desktop shortcut. but when i open eMule, i still have version 47. also the same if i access eMule from the start menue. [ i have windows XP ] i have no idea what to do, HELP!!!! thank you... oh, n im having trouble with my electrical system in my truck, but thats another story!!!

Torpon style... :)

1. Go to Options/Server
2. Set number of errors allowed before removing the server to 9
3. Click List button that appears next to the option Auto update
4. In Notepad, that is opened, add the following lines in the beginning:
http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz
	  http://peerates.net/peerates/certifiedservers.met
	  http://peerates.net/peerates/trueservers.met

5. Save changes in notepad
6. Unmark the two following options Update list of servers
7. Click on Accept
8. Go to servers window
9. Remove all servers from static list
10. Remove all servers from list
11. In Update Server.met from URL, write any of the URL in point 4
12. Click on Update button
13. If you have selected Autoconnet only to servers on static list add the servers you want to static list
14. Double click on any server

For the second problem, try a clean installation --> http://forum.emule-p...showtopic=45421

hay philip, thanks for the reply.
in step 4), i cut and pasted the CODE on the note pad and assumed i saved thre changes by clicking "APPLY" at the bottom.
for step 6) the "following two options" are, “update server list when connecting to the internet” and “update server list when a client connects” . both are now unchecked.
for step 9), there are no servers listed at all to remove.
now for step 11), i have absolutly NO idea what you mean by "write any of the URL in point 4".
and in step 13) i dont know of any "servers you (i) want to (add to) static list".
thanks for you time!!

Ok...in the Server window you should have the write: Update server.met from URL. In the space under, copy this line:

http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz

and then, click on Update.

;)

Dont worry about static server, you can ignore it...
