I just saw that SourceForge started their community awards 2008. After we won the "Best new project" category last year I wonder if we should try to aquire another win this year. Intresting enough Sourceforge has created several new categories, of which some seem to be made for us alone ;)

Check out their categories here: http://sourceforge.n...ca08-categories

And then feel free to comment if and which you would like to see for eMule. After filtering out those who really don't apply for eMule (developer app, etc), those categories would stay:

Best Project How boring ;) But well...
Let's start with the big one. The Best Project award goes to the project with the best technical design, most helpful community, and most powerful product.

Most Likely to Be the Next $1B Acquisition Mmhhhhhh
If we've all proven nothing else in the past twelve months, we've proven that your open source company can be so successful that someone is willing to give you bags and bags of money for it. The winner of this award is a project that is next in line to receive those bags.

Best Project for Multimedia Depends on the POV i suppose
The winner of this award is the project that lets you do something really cool with your audio or video data.

Most Likely to Change the World They don't say for the better, so we are sure in :P Edit: Oh damn, didnt read till the end
The winner of this award is a project that can change society for the better.

Best New Project We won this last year, I don't think SF would like it if we win again.. sooo.. ;)
All projects were once new projects. Of all the projects that started in the past year, which one has had the most success? Which one has the greatest potential? The winning project in this category has just been born, but is sure to make a difference in the years to come.

Oh no :(

Quote

Oh, except that we'll throw away all Best New Project nominations for projects that are over a year old

Most Likely to Be Ambiguously Accused of Patent Violation Well we never know
As an innovator these days, it's important to do something revolutionary - but not so revolutionary that someone else speculatively patented it fifteen years ago. The winners of this project are so forward-looking with their technical vision that they're sure to get pounced on by patent trolls from the early nineties for implementing an idea they saw on Star Trek in the sixties.

Most Likely to Get Users Sued *cough*
These are dark and dangerous times for hackers and users alike! The winner of this award is a project that provides freedom to those who use it - more freedom, in fact, than "the man" approves of.

Oh and if you want to nominate eMule right here without discussing, here you go ;) : http://sourceforge.n...ects%2Femule%2F

Pfffffffft it's all jealousy :P
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

that was the only way to stop emule winning the other categories...

http://sourceforge.n.../cca08-sponsors
first one is microsoft...

/me wonder who might have proposed these new categories about "patents" and "suing"? :D

There are three kinds of people in this world: people who watch things happen ... people who complain about things that happen ... and people who make things happen...

Second option.
I would like eMule to win the position for "Most Likely to Get Users Sued". If there's a category of the ones listed we can win, that is the one.
I think we will battle against some BT clients, but we can get that, oh yes, we can.
The problem is not the client, it's the user

Thanks, it was hard work, but i knew we could make it. But we will not rest, untill... well.. until tonight i suppose.

PS: I do like that they seem to have renamed the category on the winner sheet at least, sounds much better now. I through wonder if we get our own special category next year too.. maybe "Best project which ends with mule" ;)

Hi everyone
Just adding some tip.
"Most Likely to Get Users Sued, If they wish it" ;)
I personally prefer the anonymity. :)
