Someone over at the Phoenixlabs forum (peerguardian) posted a link to a website ( http://www.peerates.net ) offering a hourly updated

Certified servers list, guaranteed fake-free.
ed2k://|serverlist|http://peerates.net/peerates/certifiedservers.met|/

Right now this list includes 6 Donkeyservers, 3 Bytedevils, 13 Big Bangs and 3 other servers.
Together 25 "certified" servers.

Their "no-fake" list has 53 servers.
ed2k://|serverlist|http://peerates.net/peerates/trueservers.met|/

Don't get me wrong, i don't question their intention, as far as i can tell, the lists are valid.

Does someone know how they "certify" servers and keep them "certified" ?
Do they know something we don't or are they just guessing and making things up ?

Anyhow, another alternative source for serverlists.

Btw, if anyone from this website is reading this post, feel free to comment.

I think "evaluated" could have been a better word. Certification is supposed to be done by a well known authority. And that respect peerates still has to gather. The idea is however better than the current gruk.org who just provide the server list and do not tell how they gathered it.
Download the MorphXT emule mod here: eMule Morph mod

Trouble connecting to a server? Use kad and /or refresh your server list
Strange search results? Check for fake servers! Or download morph, enable obfuscated server required, and far less fake server seen.

:worthy:
you're right one more time.
'guenine' will be changed for 'checked'
'certified' will be changed for 'powerful' ...

now, i do not provide the .met files for 'all' and 'fakes' servers lists,
but the content of these files is showed in a text file.

next, i think to publish an analysis page for each others met files i know.
(corpo,gruk,ocb maurice, server-list.de, ect ...)
because somes faked server ip are already provided by these lists.
at this time, only the ocb-maurice 'best servers' list is really clean.

thank's 4 yours comments.

Hi.

This page display several servers lists which provide edonkey servers adresses.
http://www.peerates....tes/others.html

As you see, most of these lists are provided with faked servers.
(in fact, only 3 lists are really clean.)

About this :

nota bene
-''not faked' do not means 'sure' -> a 'good' server can spying users too.
-'faked' do not means 'dangerous' -> some of 'faked' servers returns 0% of valid result for a file (or/and sources) search, perhaps only for the law respect in concerned country. (if server do not provide valid response for licenced stuff, in france for example, it can't be attacked by the law. so , this type of server is not really dangerous, but it doesn't contribute for any thing on the donkey network, and i think it's better to not use them for a best network use.)

but some of these faked servers are powered by the 'p2p' ennemies ...
so, we have to be careful and, if possible, use only 'good' servers in our client software.

today, at least 60% of edonkey servers are faked.
If we want cleaning our network of this pollution, all users must use good servers lists.

and OCB-Maurice provide a good list too ...
(THC powered ... but clean. :-))

Ships computers, aka search, show that one of the 2 links provided by Nissenice contains at least the following :

http://www.peerates....ruk-server.html

Quote

Localization : http://www.gruk.org/server.met
Presumed FAKED : 88.191.39.23:4321 -> indexation score : 0%
Presumed FAKED : 84.160.89.44:50135 -> indexation score : 0%
Presumed FAKED : 83.149.116.231:4242 -> indexation score : 0%
Invalid server IP : 203.121.79.54:4321
Presumed FAKED : 193.138.231.210:4242 -> indexation score : 0%
Invalid server IP : 87.150.12.220:9661
Presumed FAKED : 88.191.40.239:4321 -> indexation score : 0%
Presumed FAKED : 203.121.79.53:4321 -> indexation score : 0%
Invalid server IP : 87.150.14.147:9661
Presumed FAKED : 83.149.116.131:4242 -> indexation score : 0%
Server IP : 80.190.240.125:4661 -> indexation score : 40%

The meaning of the indexation score is encrypted with a Cardassion recursive encryption method.

meaning of the indexation score ...
evaluate good answers for a specific file search
(also called 'Stolichnaya effect' :bounce: )

By requesting the 10 or 20 best edk servers on a specific research, establish a 'reference' score for this specific file search.
(balanced to obtain an answer average for a users volume)

send the same request to a server.redo 4 or 5 times this operation with different file searches, on the same server.
then, compute the server's score by comparing the answer with the reference score value.
0% means that server do not send any result, for any request.

At this time, only files searching is evaluated, but soon, the sources search (for specific files) will be evaluated too.

by example, "jd2k" edonkey server do not send any result, for any request.
but it's not alone. (only 2 of 5 french servers are responding)

keeping these servers IP in the meta list is useless.
Except, perhaps, for the displayed advertising ...

For jd2k server .... (and other french), yes , they are all dead ..... (like french moddeur) :ranting:

But still jd2k server (for example) isn't a RIAA/MPAA server ....

How do you add links like that into e-mule? It says "invalid link"...

Hey,

You use the http protocol in the server window like:

http://peerates.net/...trueservers.met

OR

by adding it to the webservices.dat as an entry like:

Peerates server.met, ed2k://|serverlist|http://peerates.net/peerates/trueservers.met|/

Take a look here at the Quick Help & guides:

Great topic and thanks for the info.

I've always used E-Mule to download old and rare stuff.. there is no other peer to peer on the net that provides this
service mainly because everything is based on new stuff.

im using the 2 following links
http://www.peerates.net/servers.php
http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz
and followed the instructions i got here in this forum

eDS No1/2 are at tipping point (close to max capacity and going off/on line) so i've gone on KAD only for now to give servers a bit of breathing space :)
