I just recently moved to a new location. I now have a cable modem (motorola) through the atlantic broadband service.

I have not been able to connect to the servers with a high ID. I went to the Options -> Connection -> Test Ports section. I tested it and came back with BOTH green checkmarks on the TCP and UDP connections.

I have trend micro pc-cillin 2007 firewall. I believe I have opened the ports to allow traffic, but I'm a n00b with pc-cillin (any suggestions would be helpful)

I just want to connect with a High ID.

Any help would be appreciated. If more info is need, please let me know.

What server, name and ip, are you connected to?
Have you tried enabling Protocol Obfuscation in Options/Security

Cheers :D

I'm trying to connect to DonkeyServer No1 (IP: 66.199.250.170:8911)

I tried the obfuscation route, and while I was able to get a HighID on some servers, I get this message while trying to connect to others:

"Your [port number] is not reachable. Please review your network config."

I have that port opened through my firewall (Pc-cillin) so it should not be blocked.

Furthermore, even though I do get a HighID on the server, the Kad connection is still firewalled.

Real Donkey Server's IP starts 62.
Follow this steps
  • Go to Options/Server
  • Set number of errors allowed before removing the server to 9
  • Click Edit button that appears next to the option Auto update
  • In Notepad, that is opened, add the following lines in the beginning:
    http://www.gruk.org/server.met.gz
    http://peerates.net/peerates/trueservers.met

  • Save changes in notepad
  • Unmark the two following options Update list of servers
  • Click on Accept
  • Go to servers window
  • Remove all servers from static list
  • Remove all servers from list
  • In Update Server.met from URL, write any of the URL in point 4
  • Click on Update button
  • If you have selected Autoconnet only to servers on static list add the servers you want to static list
  • Double click on any server
Cheers :D

I tried your suggestions, but I still get a lowID when I don't use the obfuscation technique.

I don't think i'm doing anything wrong, but it is entirely possible.

Then enable Protocol Obfuscation.
