So I post my music this morning on the content database, fire up my eMule and do some other things. I decide to check on how my music is doing about 2 hours later. I had to take a second look when I found out a total of 6 users were already requesting my music. So I set my archive to powershare after I pick my jaw up off the floor. I look over at the database and there's already two ratings and almost 50 download requests for my music. So I'm no longer asking myself if I'll be a hit or not, now I'm asking myself exactly how big of a hit I'll become!

So, thanks to everyone who took an interest in my music!!! :D :D :D

There are three kinds of people in this world: people who watch things happen ... people who complain about things that happen ... and people who make things happen...

The RIAA might be contacting you for a completely different reason this time   !

Say, how do I find your music before I have to buy a copy?

You can use this link too if you want to go straight for my music. :)

It's now the 3rd most popular music release in the whole database (and gaining on other releases as we speak - currently 29 overall now)

I've thought about selling my music, but it doesn't really interest me a whole lot (I'm quite alone when I say this - some people are telling me to "sell that music!") To be honest, it woudl be very hard to pry me completely away from a free CC based distribution model still. I mean, I doubt I'd ever get this well marketted in the first place, I don't see how I can turn my back on what the music fans have given me so far (unlike the Arctic Monkeys... I wouldn't mind slapping them for what they did)

Also, sorry for not checking back on these forums so frequently, been a bit busy on other projects.

Also, thanks for getting me 45,000+ downloads! :D

You could use Jamendo as a second way to distribute your music. There you can set it up to accept donations. So you wouldn't be asking for money but if someone felt like the music is worth some of his money then you will get something. Pretty good concept in my eyes. There is some music I found there that I wouldn't mind putting up in our DB in order to give it more visibility. The problem is that someone signed up my username and I don't feel like signing up an alias. I already struggled with the idea that I had to signup to release these two collections and then I can't even release under my own name.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Hmm...not to knock your talent, but I found many of the songs' pace too slow for my taste and lacking punch. A few, however, I discovered stood out as diamonds among the rough:
  • TechTalk Theme Beta 2.1 It's got remix potential, but it already stands apart on its own. It was interesting to hear its progressive evolution.
  • Secret Lab (SCRaTCH aTTaCK ReMiX) <!!!> OMG! That freakin' ROCKED! It's going on my phone right now!! <!!!>
  • SilverTear - So Deep (Perfect Frozen IceCube Remix) Wow, so beautiful. I shed a tear for that one ;)
  • MOTH - Rituals Frenetic & freaky!
The other artists is the "other music" CD were enjoyable, as well :+1: I haven't completed downloading the other releases yet, but I'm sure they'll be carry the same vintage sound I've come to appreciate :)

A final word of advice: don't use that "clap" sample, it's über-cheesy

Heheh,

The interesting part about your comments is that this would be the first time I even found a comment that matched someone elses. I've had someone else comment that they really liked the SilverTear remix track.

The Secret Lab track was remixed by Scratch Attack who isn't really online anymore. :(

The theme tune used a digital instrument known as Slayer. I recently got ahold of the next version known as Slayer 2 and hope to make some good use of it.

Thanks for the comments, I actually got some new idea's for where I can take my music to particularly because of the SilverTear track comment.

As for the music being too slow, I plan on getting in to more Drum N' Bass/Breakbeat which is generally faster in terms of BPM, so I'm glad some of my thinking, at least, isn't off on where to take my music to.

I'm also hoping to make it a tradition for every end of the year, I compile an 'other music' CD with some great music as it seems I was right on the money in thinking that even if some people didn't like what was on the first two discs, the last disc should feature some stuff they'll like anyway. A little something for everyone. :)

All this is really exciting. I figure if I can do this in the first two years, I can't wait to see what I can pull off by my fifth year of production if I get that far :D

So, faster BPM and less clap sample, will definitaly keep that in mind - even for future trance tunes. :)
