My downloads never start even when I disable my firewall. I'm running 0.47c and everything says I'm connected but for some reason I get nothing. Someone please help. The ports seem to be open & everything.

How long is never?

How many servers are listed in Servers-page?

Which server are you connected to? (name and IP-address)

How many downloads do you have in transfer with how many sources?

Never means never. My server page lists 176 servers. I'm connected to DonkeyServer No 1 62.241.53.2. One download with one source.

How long is never? 1 hour, 2 weeks or 4 years? BTW: You got around 126 fake servers and not enough sources (3000 are recommended).

That's what I thought too --- In my younger days.

At least hundred of your servers are fakes. How to update your list of servers:

1. Disconnect from the server.

2. In Options/Server disable 'Auto-update server list at startup', 'Update server list when connecting to a server' and 'Update server list when a client connects'. Set 'Remove dead servers after .. retries' to 10.
Check 'Use smart LowID check on connect', 'Safe connect' and 'Autoconnect to servers in static list only'.

3. Click on Servers-tab. Delete all the servers.
Paste "http://corpo.free.fr/server.met" (no quotes) in "Update server.met from URL" and click 'Update'. Select all the servers. Right-click and select 'Add To Static List'.

4. Connect to any one of the servers.

The real problem is that you are downloading a single file with only one source. That's not how one usually use eMule. ;)

May I suggest that you start more downloads. 10 - 30 files with less than 3000 sources in total.

Why are my downloads so slow?

hey guys

I have a problem - my emule waits patiently in the queue for his dowload window, and with it arrives i can see in the donwload section that a connection has been made to another user. but alas, the speed is 0 b/s and after 30-45 seconds the connection ends with one single byte transfered to my HD.
and then i wait again in the queue for my chance, till next time. it happens many times, with alot of different users.
i must note that sometimes a succesful donwload is made, and i get files to my computer.
why does it happen????

thanks

It seems your ISP is throttling your connection.
Enable Protocol Obfuscation in Options/Security. If your version is prior to 0.47c you also ned update version.

Cheers :D

Hey

first of all, thanks for the quick and kind answer :+1:

I dont think that my ISP is the problem, cuz I download many times with speed up to 140 kb/s.
And I have the latest version of emule, and protocol obfuscation is enabled (what is it, by the way?)
Maybe something is wrong with my Internet properties in WinXP configuration.
I read long time ago about microsoft is limiting the BandWidth, or something like this.

Anyway I will appreciate any advice

Well, there isn't a fixed one, I mostly connect to DonkeyServer No1/2/3 or to BiG BanG 1/3/4/5
I use the default ports 4662 for TCP and 4672 for UDP
I did what was told in one of the threads here about server updates policy, and I download only from http://corpo.free.fr/server.met

Thanks for your help :)
