Long-time user here,
eMule 0.50 (Vista) worked perfectly for as long as I can remember. Suddenly I noticed having a low ID, without changing my settings.
- Router settings and port forwardings unchanged (I resetted the thing anyway, didn't help)
- Windows firewall is and always has been off
- using AVG Anti-virus, disabled it, didn't help
- my ports are 40000/40001
- fresh eMule install didn't help
With every program start I get the message "UPnP failed to setup port forwardings". Sometimes after a manual restart, eMule crashed, i.e. never came up.

Upnp Failed To Setup Port Forwardings

After some more googling, I found that setting a preferred IP in my Windows connection settings was the culprit. I changed the IP in my port forwarding settings and get a high ID now. Although "UPnP failed to setup port forwardings" still appears at startup...

IP should be static (or made constant) if you do not like to change forwarding rules from time to time.

Is UPnP enabled in the router?
Finally you can turn off use of UPnP in eMule.

I have the same problem here and I have turn on the UPnP in the Router. After setting port in router I am always High ID user if turning off DHCP server which appearantly can't satisfy my needs. So what's wrong with the my Pc since it always show the message "UPnP failed to setup port forwardings"

These two things intended to be mutually exclusive: you do not need to "set ports" when using UPnP. If you forwarded ports, you can turn off use of UPnP (in eMule, at least).
