PeerBooter 88.191.228.66 is going offline and it is the last server included in eMule 0.50a installation file (anyway it is somewhat limited), nodes.dat included in eMule 0.50a is too old to be useful, 2014 pc users are noobs, they can't understand port test 'Configure your router' part, they can't understand to join IRC to get help or so.

I think a new eMule 0.50a release will help noobs, in that 'new' version only nodes.dat and server.met file shuld be updated, to avoid bug introduction. Or at least a new version that fixes small bugs, again the most important thing is to not introduce new bugs in a release version.

A drawback is that links will be broken.

I hope that 0.50b version will be ready soon, but a rerelease of 0.50a with a valid server list and updated nodes.dat would be a good idea.
I recommend even to update libunpnp libs ad to activate by defauld the upnp...I am pretty sure that this could solve a large part of low ids problems.

I think updated libraries aren't pain-free bugfixes and they should be implemented in a new version.

I hope people that voted 'no' will reply here the reason for that no.

Its not a bad idea, but then I do hope that the 0.50b update will be ready in a few months. And given that the current version is out for a few years already I think waiting some months more isn't going to make a huge difference.
But I will consider it depending on how the work on the new version goes. The easiest solution would be just repacking the installer with the updated notes.dat and since no critical bugs are known, that might be fine.

(btw upnp is enabled by default when using the wizzard)

Once upon a time there was eMule0.48a-Installer2.exe
It was done rather quietly and could be repeated any time.

Ok.

Only thing is to replicate it on download sites. Emule 0.50b beta release maybe?

And, just to add a note (again):

Maybe the most important is not only a new release it's also the website who's the mirror of the app.

When I look to it I cannot find any recent help/support file. They are from 2009 and some are from 2005.
The French homepage start with a popup on the right "last news" about... version 0.49.
This is just an example.

Webmaster would be inspired to make some adjustements.

Community can do translation but developers have to provide the material to do it.
Update of the english version would help.

According to an old message, help file is deprecated; online help should be used.

If I read well he is talking about the online help and I agree with him.

Alright, since the 0.50b will not be ready that soon, I will repackage the 0.50a with an updated nodes and servers.dat. Any special wishes for the server list?

Well, I intended to do it like 2 weeks ago but... Hopefully I find time for it this weekend.
