After providing the guarding.p2p service for MLdonkey users for some time I added today ipfilter.dat lists based on the bluetack lists. Thought it may be of interest for some of you...

Download is available at http://www.openmedia.info

Cheers,
Mac

Yeah I use it, too. Bluetack Blocklist Manager is a great tool.

Actually I'm blocking 2.338.858.488 IPs :xshocked: :D

The guarding.p2p and ipfilter.dat lists are updated again. These lists include the fake-MLdonkey 0.25 ranges.

If you are still using using the older automatic download script, please take note that the plaintext format of guarding_full.p2p is no longer available to conserve bandwidth. Please update to the newer script which supports the zipped filter lists. More info here: http://www.openmedia.info/p23.html

Cheers,
Mac

Thats a nice one! Is there a direct link to an uncompressed ipfilter.dat for the 'full' version? Needed for auto ipfilter downloader, which cannot handle zip and rename.

Hi Ingolf,

There was a full plaintext version available some time back, but it was eating far too much bandwidth (about 3GB each month). So I stopped providing a plain text format and moved completely to compressed lists only.

If you would run a *NIX version, there are 2 automatic scripts available which check, download, extract and activate the newest list after an update. Under Windows this may be a bit more complicated, but you should also be able to create and schedule a script doing the same. As a hint, there is a wget version available for Windows: http://www.interlog....on/wgetwin.html

New ipfilter.dat and guarding.p2p filterlist weekly update available (12 September)
small: 15240 ranges
full: 86090 ranges

I use only http://www.bluetack....fig/antip2p.txt , but Blocklist Manager gives better security :)

In the past there were complains about unnecessarily included ISP ranges in the filterlists which block regular users at dial-up, DSL etc. Following some suggestions I'd like to address the issues.

Surround wrote a small script (as posted in the german MLdonkey forum) and after some modifications I've got a candidate list of currently 334 potential ISPs. More details are posted here:

http://www.openmedia...wtopic.php?p=22

As I'm planning to exclude these ranges in the future I would ask you for your comments to avoid a possible risk. Please go through the list at above mentioned link and when you find a range which should not be excluded, please let me know.

A new update is available. As previously announced the dialin, DSL, PPP etc. ranges are now excluded by default. For details about the excluded ranges please take a look at this list: http://openmedia.inf...oads/lookup.txt

The new filterlists contain:
standard: 15350 ranges
full: 85542

Who is submitting all those IP ranges? Can they be trusted?

It's based on the Bluetack lists + additional data from different sources and forums. One main difference is that the dial-in connections of normal users (ISP's) are NOT blocked as in the other lists. Details about the content of each list is on the website and there are ongoing discussions in the english and german MLdonkey forums (mldonkey.org).
