I've always been having lowID and that is usual for me (NAT server). Everything worked fine. But after a 6 months pause of using emule i have a problem with kad search. It provides no results or a few results. For ex, word "Windows" gives 0 results. Server search works fine. kad source search works fine. i have quite good download speed and many contacts. Up speed 300 kb dwn speed 150 - 200 kb. Tried to change port numbers, max. connections and hard limit - no success. after 20 hours of running kad search still doesn't work. NEED HELP!

Which eMule-version do you use?
Enabled any of the 'Protocol Obfuscation'-boxes in Options/Security?
Installed any IPfilter and checked 'Filter servers too' in Options/Security?

First try 'safe' settings:
- Max Connection == 200
- Max. new connection/5 secs (Options/Extended) == 10
- Max half open connection (Options/Extended) == 9

eMule 0.47c

I set parameters as you recomended.

now word "windows" gives 19 results. :cry2: ...not too much...

= later=

and now again 0 results.

type search keywords status Active load 0 (0|0) packet sent 22|6 responces 0

word "crack" = 0 results. Anything wrong with kad network?

Let's try the following:

In the Kad screen, disconnect from the Kad network.
Connect to the ed2k network to a reliable server, e.g. one of the DonkeyServers with IP addresses starting with 62.241.53.x.
Do a server search for some widely spread files and start up a few downloads.
Wait for sufficient sources to be found.
Then go to the Kad screen and activate the "From known clients" option.
Press the Bootstrap button.
Wait for sufficient Kad Contacts to be found.

Now try a Kad search again for a popular search term like "emule".
Remeber to check the search settings to not exclude certain extensions or file sizes, etc.
It said: "Insert disk #3 into drive...", but only 2 will fit...?!?

DonkeyServer No2 (62.241.53.16:4242)

transfers Windows Vista RTM sources 318|319

kad contacts 303

kad search for "windows"

type search keywords status Active load 0 (0|0) packet sent 30|10 responses 0

googled the problem: http://forum.emule-p...hp/t113845.html but there is no answer there.

At the moment, it seems that, connecting to 72.51.37.x servers, searches get such poor results as reported by guga50, while 62.x servers are ok.
Any explanation?

@kavikki: Start a new thread for your problem with fake (=72.51.37.x) servers. :) We are discussing Kad here.

You are bootstrapping from other clients not servers. :+1:

kad contacts 303
How long have you waited to get 303 contacts? Normally you should have approx 800 contacts after a couple of hours.

Try:
1. Download 'nodes.dat' from http://nodes.soultcer.net/
2. Disconnect Kad.
3. Replace 'nodes.dat' in eMule\config-folder with the new one.
4. Click 'Connect' in Kad-page.
5. Wait 2 hours. How many contacts? Any changes with your searching-problem?

nodes.dat files from http://nodes.soultcer.net/ contain NO CONTACTS and files length is 12 bytes. You can check it.

It can be something wrong at this moment, you can try the stoepsel way in post #4, until soultcer's nodes.dat is right.

Cheers :D

I checked it. I agree, 12 bytes isn't much...

Ok let's try this.

1. Disconnect Kad.

2. Backup the eMule\config folder.

3. In eMule\config folder delete the files src_index.dat, preferencesKad.dat, nodes.dat, key_index.dat and load_index.dat.

4. In Kad-page type 195.236.75.57 in 'IP or Address:' and type 5674 in 'Port:' and hit 'Bootstrap'. (That one works not. I got 200 contacts immediately, yeah, from my own nodes.dat, should have delete it... :cry2: )

Edit: The parts in red!

not Strange at all

Here is another nodes.dat: http://www.emule-inside.net/nodes.dat (5kB). Put it in the config folder (see post #8).

hi

I got a similar problem here, and I've never been able to fix it.

But I found at least a workaround (don't know if this will work for you):
With the same keyword than in your capture (please read forum rules, and try to find better examples!):
- without filters, I get no result at all (another day, i could have had 5 or 10 results...)
- with min size=100 and max size=200, I get 30 results (a bit better, but still far behind the global method)
- with min size=160 and max size=161, I get 39 results! (more than with the global method)

Any other filters or additional keywords can help as well.
my latest favorite jamendo album (Creative Commons license): CraZyH et Djézinho - Prémis N'1
Could be considered as the male counterpart to zap mama. It's really worth a try, even if you hate hip-hop...
Jamendo tags = beatbox electro ethnique experimental hiphop lounge percussions ragga rap reggae scat soft triphop world

OK. Thank you. I'll try it. Just can't realize WHY IT WAS WORKING AND NOT WORKING NOW???????????? Nothing happens to my comp. Only 6 months break in use. Something strange.... I've been using mule for about 2 years and no problems... but now...

=later=

Thank you jestheonlyone it seems to work! But it's so strange.

Just wanna ask you. Whether you have been experiencing the problem since you had got it or it was resolved by itself? Do you have the problem now?

Your Kad connection is firewalled. Try to get an open connection. Also press the Reset button in Search.

The problem has been resolved by itself after a while. Now KAD gives search results as it should give.
I did nothing with emule. ^_^ but the problem WAS!!! (maybe it was still undiscovered complex interaction unside overlay kademlia network??? )
