lol I have a lot to say when I start typin but its all pretty much needed to get the ball rolling up to SPEED!!! (eMule being the ball, DUH!!!!!)

OK, heres a few things I think should be in the next update because it would speed up eMule

1.) Concentrate upload on first slot and or lower slots
2.) Set eMule to upload full chunks by default with no option to turn it off
3.) Take off that 60 min download limit, it stops users that are almost done Done


OK, with #1 I think you either set it to do that or make it only have 1 upload slot and if needed add an extra slot if that user cant download at 10 kbs a sec. This will get full chunks spread FASTER making that user a possible source spreading other parts FASTER, get it??? the whole thing will increase the speed of chunks being spread like wildfire, well thats what I think. Everytime I look at eMule i see 1-3 users at like 57 mins upload time and they have 8-9 mbs and 1 unlucky user downloading at 0.5 kbs YAY!!!!, what happens??? eMule kicks their ass off with not much left to finish... Why even start the 4th person off at that speed wasting his upload time?!?!!?? and its takes a whole hour to ALMOST finish a complete chunk?!?!?!? what a waste of time...

#2 is simple. Sending full chunks = more sources and more chunks to be spead, thus FASTER!!!!

#3 is commen sense, with eMule kicking users out of their slot and not letting them finish their chunk the whole 60 mins has been a WASTE, if you implement #1 this wont matter because at 10 kbs a sec yull finish a chunk way b4 that time comes.

I kinda posted this really fast so if anyone knows some more ways to smack this mule on the ass and get it up to speed just post it or comment on my post. I know I had another idea but my head hurts so im goin to sleep, lol, ill edit and update this later.

Take a look at the mods. E.g. ZZUL and pawico already have most of these features.

It's only a matter of time before they get added to the official version.

I think that the most important feature that will give emule download speed is ISP Proxy WebCaches.

The second important feature in my opinion, the feature you are talking about is called SlotFocus, unfortunately it is not implemented yet in the official emule although it is already present in Mods for a long time.

I think what we all are trying to accomplish here are simple improvements that would make downloading and uploading more efficient for a larger amount of people. The spreading of eMule mods with these improvements would not be able to compare to them being included in the official release.

Ok, well I dont want no damn mod, I want the original. If there were a few changes to the original then there wouldnt be a need to run to a mod unless some1 wants some leecher mod crap that isnt fair to the network. What we need is a kick ass original that everyone will want because no1 can make anything better. At least thats what I think everyone wants unless they want a shitty program..... which I believe no1 would want so I guess I could be right. YAY!!!!

Obviously the old topic starters didnt get the job done and I intend 2. Theres no reason for these simple improvements not to be implemented. Why on Earth would you want to upload to 4 users and in 60 minutes have produced NOTHING because no1 could finish a chunk because they didnt get enough speed or didnt have enough time and got kicked off at 60 minutes or even worse because some1 didnt put it to upload full chunks!!!!!!

If you just look at that and think, what could you possibly come up with to say its not a genius idea to fix it??? I dont see how but theres always some1 whos gonna try 2. Id love to hear it, give it your best shot

It is hard to believe but I think you are more obnoxious than I am. But I am on your side with this, maybe I think I am anyway. Not so sure about your method. All I know is don't piss off the moderators or the devs. This will get us nowhere. They are the all knowing beings that decide all of our fated. You wouldn't want to piss someone like that off would you?

This will not affect speed in any way. The only way to increase speed is to increase the amount of data sent, which niether of your suggestions does.

Its not so much as speed speed, its just more effienct.

This helps to get some1 to finish a chunk faster and this be able to upload it to some1, plus all the people who have him as no needed sources might need this extra chunk he just got and he will be able to upload it.

2.) Set eMule to upload full chunks by default with no option to turn it off
Not all sure about this 1, what I think is that it doesnt upload a full chunk and this no extra sources to share with others.

3.) Take off that 60 min download limit, it stops users that are almost done. They already changed this. Plain and simple, some people cant download/upload a full chunk in that time so give them more time. If they download slower its no big deal, the other sources will get the extra speed and this finish their chunks even faster. I think its a good trade?? This person will become a source for others and in the mean time others will become sources faster.

If you really wanted speed speed, I think for every big file like all the .AVIs and .BINs should be compressed if it helps make them smaller any usefull amount. That way if its compressed at least 5mb thats 5mb less to upload/download per million clients and will end up in uploading of other files or same file to other clients. But this is up to the releasers! Think about how many files are being downloaded right now that be compress at least 1-5Mb? and maybe A LOT more.

gzip??? I dont know what that is but i was just makin a lil point about the actual files on the network. A lot can be compressed pretty good but its up to the people who share them.

Ive seen something in statistics that say gained due to compression or something like that. Mine is 21GB out of 525

But that's exactly the number that tells you how much eMule saves by compression chunklets on the fly already, despite many people not compressing their files. And I guess some users would hate it if they have to unzip their AVI files before watching them. What's more, wouldn't compressing the whole file make the preview feature unusable?

Actually it's zlib...

I only know of two decent compression libraries, zlib and ucl (gzip doesn't coung, nyah nyah!)

Between these two, zlib is in my opinion the "better" choice. Sometimes ucl compresses more, sometimes zlib compresses more, but ucl is sooooo much slower!

yea your right, but most of these files are on released by groups are put on sites but still, most people prabably dont use them. Ive seen a lot of them have previews seperate but then you still wouldnt know which is real. its tricky

I guess groups shouldnt do it for movies but for games, group them all and compress them so that you dont have people dling a million different files instead of just 1. or if anything, 3 seperate is enough. Most all the games I see end up being placed all together by some1 else but then this leads to a million different files all with the same crap.
