I recently changed my computer to a static IP address instead of dynamic (assigned by my Linksys router) to avoid getting connection errors (Low ID assigned with ports not open).

When I search for a file, I get a tab with a red exclamation point and the start button remains grayed out.



These are the relevant settings on my server tab:



I have been using emule for a couple years now, and have had this issue before. I solved it by reinstalling, but I was hoping I could avoid that annoyance and just fix the issue.

I ran the "eMule First Runtime Wizard" with no change.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have indeed seen and read that guide, but it does not really address the behavior I am seeing when I try to search.

1) options - server: untick all options
2) server tab: remove all servers
3) server tab - "update server.met from url:" - paste:

http://gruk.org/server.met

and/or

http://peerates.net/servers

4) server tab: remove peerates.net and peerbooter servers


ps: try with less key words

xilee, I did this exact procedure.
I also tried "cookie recipe" with no luck.
This is very frustrating, I am getting the sinking feeling that this issue is unique to me...

You can also try global server or kad network methods.

Hi there, I have the same problem, I believe.

I have recently changed my IP from a dynamic to a static one. When I test my ports it succeeds. Now, my Emule downloads and uploads fine, just like before, but when I enter lemmata it won't let me search. It did so fine (more than 200 hits, by rule) when I used a dynamic IP, on the very same server.

Anyone an idea what's up ?

EDIT: It's working on a different server. Still weird it would do a thing an eDonkey Server No 2, right after I port forwarded.

You're not the only one. Mine is doing the exact same, and I have not done anything different to my router config, or emule config. Just woke up this morning and ALL search results come up with exclamation mark and no searches. Any idea how to fix this?

It seems there are some problems with edonkey server no2... It seems it doesn't return results, with global (server), server and automatic methods.
Try connecting to another server or use only kad network.

Servers from time to time might have troubles. Therefore it is advised to maintain clean list and connect to any valid server, not insisting on a particular one.
Today the "no. 2" server works well for me.

It works fine for me too, but other Italian users have this problem on the Italian IRC channel...
Maybe is the owner of edonkey 2 using an IP filter?

It is not just Italy, I am in Germany and atm. eDonkeyserver2 is of little/ no use for me.

For the moment I connect to a different server and fine. (not Peerates, not Peerbooter )
(also Kademlia, but that is slow in finding clients to upload to at session start.)
