Was long in the coming tho not really unexpected.
Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Have a look at http://edonkey2000.com/ (or http://overnet.com/ )
Perhaps Metamachines has definitively abandoned their old clients and got on well with majors ...

Edonkey problems are offtopic here...

So ?
What has Edonkey to do with the survival of the ed2k network these days ?

The servers are independent from MetaMachine for a long time now, the other clients as well.
The old Edonkey/Overnet clients will continue to work with some little tweaks, just like WinMX.

The unexperienced users, unable to maintain their former client, will have to search for a new home.
Many will come here, others will choose other clients or networks, some will abandon p2p.

When you think about it, it is really business as usual.

Thanks for bringing us this p2p network in the first place, MetaMachine, but your time is long past.
Goodbye. :flowers:

In fact, if your music or movie is NOT being downloaded, you should be WORRIED !
If you can't even give it away for free, how do you expect to sell it, stupid ?

It is less important than you may think... with Kademlia, we don't need edonkey network that much.

After all those comments about emule being just a clone of edonkey on their forum, it seems they will be trading their donkeys for mules now. "We don't care", yes... but "revenge is sweet" too. (-;

In my eyes eDonkey has been dead and gone for a long time. This is just the final end. It stated a long time ago...

I for one am saddened by the demise of EDonkey, as I would be saddened if any other p2p networks suffered the same fate.

This is not the time for gloating over petty likes and dislikes.

What price unity now friends.

Well, the network hasn't exactly suffered from this.

We have to remember that edonkey2000 clients preferred their own (horde anyone?). In that sense, I will not be mourning for it. One shitty client less, so to speak. No offence to its fans.

Goodbye Everyone.

I think they might not know about our swedish friend from relakks.com ( thanks to the swedish pirate party - www.piratpartiet.se) yet. And of course truecrypt is also a good thing to use if you fear the RIAA :flowers:

Anyway - with edonkey finally gone there will be even more people using emule 0.47b - protocol obfuscation came just in time :+1:

hi
ok, i just switched to emule 0.47
from that old edonkey
Emule, is a great program.
Why i never used it before....
question
i did import all not completed files from old edonkey temp directory,
with the IMPORT option.
It worked great, except only about 50% of files working, mean about 50%
missing, or not in the " transferts window". Why ?
can i force import in some manner ?
thank you for your help
Al.
