Hi all,
in years that I use EM I never was really satisfied in ports config.
Always used different routers, never had a direct connection, but only via Lan (I haven't a direct modem)-
The only firewall I have in my PC is Windows XP firewall.
So never know if my ID is low because:
- of my PC firewall (but the result seems unchaged once I fully deactivate firewall to test EM).
- my router (which is not listed in EM Help)
- an eventual firewall in my router
HELP me! I'm not so expert indeed!
My OS is XP Pro, and router is Atlantis Router ADSL 2+

From EM instructions: I open the LAN, add new port to Exceptions, type 4662 for TCP, 4771 for TCP and 4672 for UPD,
there is no place where to type the suggested 127.0.0.1, just call them with descriptions (eg. EM_TCP)
already added the full EM program to exceptions

In router I'm only able to enter in Config / Firewall / add new rule.. but here start the troubles
"drp/forward" "ingoing/outgoing" "from/to" again "from/to" my IP or router IP.. for me impossible to understand
so show a couple of images (I guess my router is really complicated!)
please see http://emmro.blogspot.com/
Thanks a lot!

Tks my friend
could you check in http://emmro.blogspot.com/
if now written correctly?
I don't think so, because again Low ID
and
1) IP address should be my IP?
2) which should be DMZ IP?

You don't need to change DMZ.

Run IPCONFIG from command prompt and use the IP Address shown there.

Now the port test is working!
(Nod antivirus selected EM exclusion, firewall same..)

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO BOTH OF YOU

now (after reboot) it says High ID.. it's the first time I read such comment!
unluckily still download is just 2 to 3 K permanent.. and never been so slow

How many files are you trying to download, how many sharing, how many clients in queue and how many found sources(Statistics/Transfer/Downloads/Session)?
What server, name and ip, are you connected to?
How many servers in your list?

Cheers :D

Guessed this! Tele2 isn't an ADSL provider, but a closet!
And pls which could be the correct setup for Tele2? I'm considering to change ISP (already had in mind, but here in Italy providers take very very long time from "burocratic request" to change the plug, end so on, also a couple of months):
Tele2 unfairly promises 4 mega, but most of time their're as slow as a 56k modem, or worst.. with average of one time every two days the line disappear.. for one hour, one day.. nobody can say..
infact I stopped to pay them: it's a damage, not an ISP
I suggest to set as a 1 mega brandwidth, what do you think about?
tks

Setting as 1Mb connection is not worth. When they block/throttle traffic no setting helps, when they don't, 4 Mb settings is ok.

Cheers :D

"setup is 600 download and 150 upload (I've Tele2 ADSL 4 mega flat)"

Assuming these are kB (Kilobyte/sec) I doubt you have that much upload with your 4 Mega flat contract...

Suppongo intendessi dire che Tele2 è un cesso?
Però durante l'intervallo 12.00 p.m. - 8.00 a.m. dovrebbe andare spedito: media Dl/Ul 120/16 Kb/s.

I've one more question (sorry):
in temp files there are two "01 part" and "02 part" that are
impossible to defrag (defrag shows these two big files as "not opened")
slow down all: it seems that EM is not using them as temporary
what does this mean? they're not "met"

Each xxx.part file should have a xxx.part.met and probably .part.met.bak file. The .part file is a partial download. the .met file contains meta data like filename and hashset of the part file.

If there is no .met file it is an orphaned download, and unless you have a clue what download it belongs to you might as well delete it.

If the limited windows defragmantation program cannot defragment it, you can move the file to a different holographic storage area, defragment the free space, and move it back. It will cost you more time to do than a fragmented disk cost, but it will cure the fragmentation for a day or 2.
